I would like to share my recent experience at Alun Alun Spa (Pantai Cenang), the one which is situated opposite the Casa Del Mar. We called up to ask if they could arrange transport from and to our hotel and was told they could. Our transport arrived on time at 8pm. The good service ended here. My husband and I were ushered into a treatment room for 2 although we had earlier requested for separate rooms. While the therapists were washing our feet, the receptionist came in and told us that they could not arrange for a return transport as the packages we had asked for did not make up to Ringgit 500. Basic aromatherapy body massage costs from Ringgit 130 so we would have to add-on other treatments which we were not keen. We decided to continue with the balinese massage since we were already there. I had an extremely un-relaxing massage as one of the therapists was coughing and sneezing throughout the one hour massage and I was really afraid that it was the H1N1 virus. (Thankfully both of us had not develop any symptom associated with H1N1 since our return). The tea which was served to me after the treatment contained an insect, we decided to just pay and leave the distasteful spa. When we were presented the bill, there was a 10% service charge which was not told to us upfront and the earlier spa (Ishah Spa) which we went to had not charged us (incidentally Ishah Spa which is another 7-10mins drive away arranged for transport from and to our hotel with their compliments). The spa also refused to book a taxi for us, saying that it would be cheaper if we flag it by the roadside. My husband asked if we could pay the driver who drove us from the hotel to send us back and the spa receptionist said that the driver had gone home and called it a day. Our Langkawi holiday had been good until this bad service provided by Alun Alun Spa. I am sharing this so that someone else do not need to go through the same experience and have their holidays marred by it.

If you type into google for spa in Langkawi, this place will come out 1st. We are spa gals, working for spa and love to go on spa holiday. Obviously we tried this place.
The place is immaculate. But this is what we get back at home in a typical shop lot. The pampering over here is okay. But we don't like here is, guests are forced to give a compulsory 10% tip in the name of service charge.
No other spas that we visited charged that.
The good part of the place is all the staffs here looks like supermodels. I don't know where they got them , but they made us jealous... HE He he...

I visited Alun-Alun spa this year for the Malaysian massage. Staff were lovely throughout. You receive a herbal tea and flower petal foot soak prior to the massage, which was done in a large room with calming music, low lighting 2 large massage tables & wooden bath. The masseur was very pleasant.
It was far better than the massage I had last year at the "Sun Spa" next door, which had hessian curtains dividing the massage tables.
Thoroughly recommended!

It was my first visit to sunny island Lankawi. i was totally new and traveling alone. Its going to be 3day trip for me. I went around te island and was checking Spas to have some massage, theres where i found te hidden paradise spa called ALUN ALUN!!They re located at pantai cenang walking distance from Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa. I tot it was just a normal spa as i walk in,i was greet by friendly staff whome make me seated and offer me with a cup of gensing tea. As i browse te menu te spa consultant help me to explain what te treatment about and te oil used and what type of treatment suits me. Well again, te music they played and te sooting sound of waterfall plus te friendly front desk staff truly make me relax. Finally after browsing te menu i make up my mind of having te ALUN ALUN signature massage called te HOT OIL MASSAGE. Te best part of te massage was, where i can choose my own oil as i personally don't like strong smelling oil, they have 3 different type of oil where i can choose from!Jasmine,Rose Or Lavender. As i enter te treatment room ushered by te therapist, beautyfull walkway with water running both side of it........It was completely out of world as i enter te treatment room, te rooms come with outdoor shower area, steam room, hot tub,and many more.......but te best part was te friendly and humble therapist whom really make me smile........she start te treatment with sea salt foot soak. Te room temperature, music and lighting was good, but iam yet to try te skill of te therapist. Theres no rushing for time at all, even my massage is only for one hour. Finally we start te treatment as te soft hand of my therapist slide into my body i was truly relax and fall asleep.....
....It was one of te best Spa i have been too.Its great, clean service and te best of all is excellent service that provide by te staff. I felt like in te paradise. my treatment dint only stop there i came back te next day to try te one of te exclusive program called healing program that lasted 3 hour. It was beautyfull and iam speechless about my overall experience at ALUN ALUN SPA. lam surely coming back here and strongly recommend te spa to anyone whom need good massage or simply to sit back and relax while get yourself pampered like a king or queen!!
