Let me say from the outset, I am over fifty and I like a little bit of adventure, culture and learning in my Asian adventures but I also love coming back to my resort for its top rate facilities and live the good life for a little while. If this is similar to you DO NOT stay at the Lanai hotel. You will be disappointed on all levels. It is more like a back packers with limited services and rundown rooms.
Upon arrival we checked in and we had to carry our luggage up three flights of stairs. No porters AND we were sent the wrong way by reception so we basically did a circuit of the hotel.
The room was old and quite basic. When I turned on the air conditioner it sounded like a Russian tractor and I had to get up and do a bit of judicious banging to stop the clatter. The bathroom was tiny and there was not a cake of soap; instead there was a tiny tube of liquid soap that was very inconvenient.
The pool did not have an attendant and I did not see any staff looking maintaining it at all. The beach bar served warm beer and all staff looked like they had been shipped in from the gulag; uninterested and unhappy.
The final straw was when our toilet sprung a leak, a gusher really and when we returned from a day trip it had not been fixed.
Do not stay in this hotel as a resort, it STINKS.
