“Rice Padi Museum a great day trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013 via mobile

Alor Setar also known as Alor Star is known as the rice bowl of Malaysia. The rice Padi museum provides a great insight into the history of rice production in the region.

The museum provides great value and is not a tourist trap. If you have time, a few hundred meters down the road is a technology museum. This is a great tactile learning place for kids.....big kids will enjoy it as well :-).

If you are staying in Kedah do also try the various hawker centers, the food here is great. You will also find the ferry port for Lankouwi (spelling?).

Alor Star Kedah is a rural town with a certain charm if you have time enough to become sympatico with its rythym.

“A must place to visit Rice Bowl of Malaysia”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2012

Been here with a friends. A lot of big mural painting around the hall. At above level, the is a huge mural with a moving observation deck. The deck will move 360degree. at the lowest level you can find lots of tools been using for paddy field plantation. if you want to know the history of the paddy field, here is the place.
