The service in Sibu Island Resort is on par with the rest of Malaysia - substandard. The duty manager was good. However, the rest of the staff are apathetic and seemed like they were there on forced labor. Our order never arrives on time, nor taken correctly the first time.

The rooms were okay but there were telltale signs of regular wear and tear. The airconditioning unit is good.

It's a really quiet and pretty place which is I think the highlight of the whole stay. Nearby Kekus Island is gorgeous.

Room Tip: Far from lobby

According to the F&B Manager from Sibu Island Resort claim that the fly still alive in the fruits plate Non their problem because the fly just coincidentally drop inside the fruit so claim that they can't do anything.

Others than the live fly i found that so many dead fly around the restaurant on table, floor, counter without any hygiene concern to the guest at all but said that this is not the first time happened and i am the first who complaint to them only.

The F&B Manager said if i am Not satisfy just go complaint or write any in the media to tell everyone this fact.

Sibu island Resort has been a family favorite for me because it is the nearest acceptable resort from where I live. The boat ride is also a short half hour or so therefore no worries about seasickness. The island itself is a a geological wonder as you are able to access many beaches of different views. The front/ main beach of thes resort is your typical sandy beach type while the beach behind the resort can be viewed from the top of a cliff. There are wooden steps and platforms all the way down. This is the rocky portion of sibu. There are 2 more stretch if beach on the resort including a breakwater section made if large rocks and boulders that makes for good beach fishing. I got a GT there(small one)! Beware though cos the line snags easily due to underwater rocks. The rooms are good enough and the food is generally tasty. There are also a small herd of deer roaming freely on the premise. In a hit day, they hide under the chalets. Also on the island are peacocks, rabbits etc. However if you are looking for clear tuqouise snorkeling paradise water, you might be disappointe. The water offers some degree of visibility so that u could still snorkel and spot some fish occasionally but nothing more. Not far away though is a tiny little island which offer excellent snorkelling. The resort normally sends u there by speedboat and leave u to do your fish businesses on the uninhabited island. I came across a reef shark and plenty of other coral reef residents. Try this resort if you just want a holiday that can't really go wrong. If I have anything to complaint, it is their price hike which came after some refurbishments the last few years. Before this, it was truly the value for money resort winner.

Knowing Pulau Sibu Besar, the bigger neighbouring island, which is beautiful, but not so well endowed with nice resorts since one of the australian run places has closed down, we tried the Sibu Island Resort which advertises itself - and charges you - as a rather upscale resort. To note the positve first: the bungalow (Serendit Suite) was ok: spacious, nice view, relatively clean. If you're an aircon-person you'll like, even so there is no remote control for the aircon and you cannot control the temperature (the effect is, that you feel like in a fridge after a while). If you want to enjoy the cooling breeze at night instead sleeping in a fridge - no chance, there is no fan and no mosquito-net, not at the bed nor at the windows, so you can choose between been bitten to death or frozen to death...
the beaches: they advertise having 3 beaches - true! even with beach beds, but no umbrellas - the local guest dont need anyway, as they go to swim fully clothed and with live jackets... the 2 small beaches are swimable even during low tide, with lots of rocks, the bigger one faces the jetty, waterquality is rather poor.
dont expect a nice dinner open air looking out to the sea: what you get is a icy cold indoor restaurant and a few tables on a porch facing the swimming pool. And dont expect the soothening sounds of wind and waves while dining: what you get is the noise of waterfountains splashing into the pool and the deafening sound of an amateur-group singing as false as an untalented karaoke beginner. The food was reasonable - considering the price, I didn't expect much. And dont expect a nice glass of wine or a cold beer: even so they want to attract foreign tourists - no alcohol, we're muslim! not even the non-alcoholic beer listed on the menue was avaiable. At least the poor young staff was friendly - smiling a lot, as they dont understand english...fortunately my partner speaks malay!
conclusion: never again! except you enjoy being starred at like an alien from outer-space...

Snorkeling trip to kukus island,so so not Interesting,i have seen better in Tioman Island.
Overall Tioman is a better place.
Will not come back.

I reported to the front desk that I had $50 sitting on my night desk when I left the room in the morning. When I returned after 3 hours, after not requesting housekeeping, I found my room had been cleaned and the $50 missing. The manager asked the housekeepers about it, and they said there was never any money there, only I had money on the chair. Well, I did have money on the chair as well, in a white laundry bag filled with my underwear. So how did they even know about that money, (which was only about $30 in small change)? They have obviously stolen my money and rifled through my things. Be careful here. Or better yet, don't come here.

The situation was never dealt with or remedied, so I'm out $50, with the only reassurance being that housekeeping will not visit my room again. For a place where rooms cost 250+, you think they'd be eager to fix this and keep my opinion of their resort intact. However, once you're isolated here and have paid for your room, the service goes downhill...

Room Tip: Lock your doors, don't let housekeeping in.

We decided to spend 2 nights for the school holidays here. The road trip from Kuala Lumpur took us through plantations and virgin jungle after we passed Kluang. I would suggest for the comfort seekers to take a flight to Johor Bahru or Singapore and drive up north. The Tanjung Leman jetty just before the island resort is a small pleasant facility with a KFC outlet (the only fast food establishment for a miles). The ferry trip lasted about 25 min. The resort is the only one on this island. It is a serene and relaxed resort with enough outdoor activities to keep everybody occupied and suitable for families and couples. It may not be the place if you are looking to party. Interesting fact for the practicing Muslims, there is a praying room where Friday prayers are conducted on the resort. We took a snorkeling trip : the corals are just ok, I have seen better in Perhentian and Tioman. Since there are no restaurants other than the resort's a fully board all meal inclusive package is advisable. The food is so-so, but the seafood is fresh. The water at beaches (3 of them) around the resort are clear, but fairly safe for the kids. The staff are pleasnatly warm. The rooms are clean. I would definitely come back again
