clean rooms and clean bathroom with basic amenities. helpful and friendly staff. BUT the air conditioning didn't work. the air condition unit was tripping and had switched on again and again. but the there was no cool air it was just a very hot and dry air from the blower. and it was so loud kept us awake the whole. very uncomfortable night. didn't sleep a wink. the owners should get the central air conditioning repaired ASAP or just shut down the hotel. no point in fitting a blower and calling it air conditioning. not everyone is foolish enough to buy that story. the blower sounded like a locomotive engine.

Room Tip: please insist on checking to see if air conditioning is functioning before checking in. you could b...

I was here to attend 2 days course. For a small place like mersing, this is really a comfortable hotel. During weekdays, breakfast is serve ala carte -normal for a small hotel. There were 2 choices either western or local food such as nasi goreng or mee goreng. Above all, everything was nice.

Mersing is not blessed with a good selection of comfortable hotels. The Havanita is clean and perfectly acceptable for a one night stay. The breakfast was poor however; service was slow and we were kept waiting for around an hour at checkout as our room safe was faulty and the management were unable to unlock it for a while so we could not retrieve our valuables. we were offered a discount though to compensate for the inconvenience.

As a result of the smoke cancelling our flight out of Tioman we had been forced to take a late ferry to Mersing, When we got there we had no idea what to do all the hotels near the terminal were fully booked and only two (very budget) places I could find were up many flights of stairs and pretty horrible. With my wife and three kids waiting I was starting to panic until a very kind local shop owner took us in his car to this hotel. The hotel is a comfortable and clean 3 star accomodation and felt like heaven after sitting on a hot smoky street corner for ages.

The staff were generally polite and helpful. The rooms were quite big and an elevator meant we didn't have to drag our cases up stairs. Breakfast is just average but after our experience we were just grateful to be there!

Phone calls outside the hotel were a problem - I had to go to the front desk (local only, no International) but the recepionist was very helpful in accomodating my requests.

The bus station is not far, however if you are taking a suitacase I would arrange transport or plan your walk carefully - there are a few obstacles along the road.

Just before the bridge over the river heading back into town (on the same side of the hotel) there are some kopi style places that do nice takeaway food, KFC for the kids on the other side over the bridge if needed.

iny family and i stayed here when transiting to Tioman. Rooms are spacious. Aircon noisy in all 3 rooms we occupied. Not very cold. The hot water in the shower was not hot. There was no waitress at the restaurant, instead we had to alert the girl behind the reception before we got our breakfast. She was sullen, and probably hates her job!. Breakfast was a take it or leave it 'American Breakfast'.......very basic. If you have time, better to go out to town for decent hot hot meal. Otherwise, fairly decent.

There are nt many decent hotels in Mersing and we end up booking this hotel based on reviews. Stayed here for 4 nights on a biz trip. The room was ok but they have to do something with d air cond, it was too noisy. The so called ala carte American breakfast was sucks. Staff were seen uninterested. Will definitely nt coming back.

This hotel together with Timotel (2 blocks away) had always been our choice accommodation for a stopover before proceeding northwards or to the nearby islands. Rooms are very spacious and although the TV in the rooms are those Cathode Ray Tube types, the variety of channels that they offered are quite good. Wi-fi connection inside the rooms are very good with hardly any interruption. There's nothing to do around Mersing Town especially in the evening, therefore having the TV and internet are the necessary comforts that help to kill boredom. Pillows are a bit too small and the airconditioning can be loud in some rooms. As for breakfast, we have stayed in this hotel numerous times and sometimes we had a simple buffet and other times there were no buffet but standard asian or western breakfast served to us. I had no problem with the latter but more with the buffet breakfast. Staff hardly or didn't bother to replenish the food even though there are other hotel guests who were waiting for the food. Even the tea and coffee were not filled up and sometimes the guests had to ask for it. This is one area where the food & beverage department needs to improve and staff needs to be more attentive. First time when I stayed here in 2008, I will give it 4 out 5 rating but I had to give it 3 this time as when we stayed here on 24th May, 2013, we have noticed that more need to be done on the overall maintenance. Nevertheless, this hotel is a good hotel and is functional.
