We have frequented The Olive many times since it opened. It's a great place with a fantastic setting next to the harbour. The food is very good and very well priced. Don't miss their Happy Hour 2 for 1 cocktails!!!!

Wonderful wonderful food! Tried the buffet and also ala carte, its the best North Indian food i ever had. The service of staff is also great! Very friendly and helpful. Buffet at RM35 per person that worth every penny spent. Check out the Happy Hour 1 for 1. Amazing harbour view too. Feels classy, pampered dining here.

Great location, right on the water overlooking the boats. Drinks good (they serve Kilkenny! And good cocktail list), food reasonable (though pricey by local standards). Service can be variable. Overall great place for an evening out.

After searching for a good quality Indian restaurant for many months, my wife and I were very excited about trying out the food at 'The Olive' restaurant...mainly because of the lack of good quality Indian restaurants in the Johor Bahru area. We have also been searching for some period of time for good quality restaurants, in particular an Indian restaurants, and when we came across 'The Oilve' restaurant a few weeks ago, we couldn’t wait to try it out as we have many visitors from both Malaysia, Australia and other overseas countries and therefore we were always on the search for good restaurants to take our visitors to. Also, I am often asked by my fellow golf club members about the location of good quality restaurants in the Johor Bahru area (by ‘expats’ and locals alike), so this experience has provided me with an opportunity to offer some good advice to my colleagues and friends alike.

I have to say that my expectations in respect of the quality and taste of the food in The Olive restaurant were well and truly met – the food was simply delicious and the service, ambiance and decor were excellent too. In my opinion, all of these attributes are essential for better class/quality restaurants.

The only negative attribute that we could come up with was the type and volume of music played in the restaurant. For a relaxing dining experience, loud and ‘rock’ type music certainly do not provide a relaxing and congenial environment. Also it is difficult to have a conversation when the music is ‘blaring’ away. In fact, the loud rock type music kind of makes you want to eat and run, which is not what most restaurant patrons want - but rather to sit back and relax, and savour the whole dining experience.

I can understand the owners/management wanting to play the louder rock type music in the ‘bar’ area as most customers, including me, don't mind a bit of lively music when having a drink, however in the dining area of the restaurant, I would suggest that most customers want a relaxing evening whereby they can enjoy the food and wine in the company of their friends without having to raise their voices to be heard.

Overall we were very impressed with the restaurant, and look forward to returning. I do hope however that next time the restaurant owners/manager will give some thought to providing some subtle background music in the restaurant area to relax and dine.
