The place was dull and it has nothing much to see. It needs a lot of improvement but the seafood there is cheap and worth trying.

We went on a 2 days 1 night trip to Kukup Village last weekend. The last time I came here was about 10 years ago. There are now more holiday resorts in the Village. We stayed in Ocean Resort which is a 2- storey house built on top of the seabed facing the Malacca Straits. Opposite of the Village is the Kukup Island National Park. Unfortunately, we did not get to visit it. On the sea between the island and the Village, there are lots of fish farms. Visit to the fish farm and Kukup Island can be arranged easily through the resort owner. When the tide recedes, the muddy ground is full of mudskippers and crabs. Mangroves can be seen growing out of the muddy ground. The sceneries of the area during high tide and low tide are different and it is interesting watching the ebb and flow of the tides. Weather permits, it is also possible to watch the beautiful sunrise and sunset from the Resort.

We paid S$110 for the trip from Singapore to Kukup. The fare includes transport, accommodation and 3 meals. We had an afternoon tea break, a barbeque dinner and a sumptuous breakfast in the Resort. There are more than 10 rooms in the Resort. Each room can accommodate up to 8 persons. They provide single and double decker beds and the rooms are air-conditioned with toilet facilities. If you are planning a trip for the elderly, double decker beds may not be suitable for them.

You have to take a small boat across from the mainland and you pay an entrance fee of about RM3.00. There are plank walk ways and a lookout tower as well. As they don't have any guides you really don't know what to look for as in most parks they have PArk rangers who can point out they these creatures are hiding and their special features which will make a difference to the place.

Worth seeing. Just park on the street in the village, instead of paying for a parking spot. We had an old woman jelling at us for that, but the car was fine on arrival :-) The ferry is to the right when you stand in front of the international ferry terminal, and is actually for free. But since you are tourist, they will come and ask you money right away. We actually didn't pay to the unfriendly man when going to the island, but gave something to the friendly man sailing us back. On the island, also different pricing for foreigners, but they reduce that when you say something about it. Wesaw the wild boar and his family, pretty cool! Do not hesitate to take the boat back (For 3 MYR) when you have reached the furthest point - we've seen most animals when sailing back!
