fabulous place

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Dec 3, 2014
We stayed for three fabulous days in November. Very clean, comfortable bungalow set within lovely gardens right on the beautiful expansive white sandy beach. Staff were helpful and pleasant and the restaurant food was second to none. The swimming pool was a welcome addition to the relaxing stay. Gary had organised our trip through remote rivers expeditions at very short notice and I must say I was very impressed with the thought that was given to making the trip most memorable and enjoyable. The itinerary was perfect and we could not have wished for a better guide- Stella. Our canoe trip along the malambolo river was the best! Thanks Gary and team!

Nice lodges and bathrooms. We spent two nights here at different times during our 3 week trip. The food is of a very good standard with a nicely varied menu. Hotel fronts the beach but unfortunately it was incredibly windy when we visited. Also, our second night here coincided with a complete absence of running water in the whole of Morondava! Having to shower and flush the toilet from buckets of water was no real hardship though, and it wasn't the hotels fault. What was less pleasant however was noticing the locals using the beach as their latrine which tended to put us off walking on the beach for long. Nice little outdoor swimming pool at the hotel. Whilst continuously busy with travellers coming and going, the hotel was quiet and served its purpose.

We spent one night here and really enjoyed our stay. Chez Maggie is a beautiful hotel on the beach in a safe part of Morondava. Our room was very spacious and had a good air conditioner / fan. It was more like a two bedroom unit with two sitting areas and large bathroom with nice shower. Our room didn't have an ocean view but that was fine for a one night stay.

We slept great here and it was very quite. Both beds in room had mosquito nets. They have a nice pool and landscaping.

The food in the restaurant was delicious, we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner there. They have a large number of choices on the menu.

The staff was very helpful, friendly and spoke basic English. The hotel guide who took us to the airport was very friendly and spoke very good English

They have their own generator if there is a problem with the city electricity. The wifi was good but you had to be in the restaurant/bar/reception area to get a signal.

As with many places in Madagascar, bring you own shampoo.

I would definitely stay here again on next visit. I would stay here longer to enjoy the variety of excursions they have from hotel.

Small structure with good quality accomodation, food and friendly staff. This is one of the few hotels having swimming pool in Morondava and right on the beach. This is not only a hotel, but if you plan to travel around, the owner is very active and efficient in this sector.

We were very pleased with Chez Maggie, arriving there after a trip down the Tsi Ribinha River via pirouge, visiting the Tsingy nature reserve, Kirindy forest and the famous Baobab alley.

A nice pool, direct beach front access with the opportunity to observe a stunning sunset and friendly, helpful staff together with a really nice, large room made for a more than pleasant stay. We actually decided to skip a planned afternoon activity to just relax there.

Additionally, the owner Gary was responsible for the itinerary of our whole Madagascar trip, and made a marvellous job organising it. Everything was neatly arranged, the provided guides, drivers and accommodations were without fault.

So we can wholeheartedly recommend Chez Maggie and Remote River Expeditions to anybody who wants to visit Madagascar.

Well provided tropical hotel with in-house restaurant situated on the outskirts of Morondava, a town where most travellers will be in transit only. The rooms are large, clean and well equipped. The aircon works perfectly...not too fierce or noisy, and hot & cold water flows freely. The bar/restaurant serves excellent fare. The staff are friendly and helpful. It adjoins a hot and polluted beach, only those with a death wish will consider a dip in the sea.

Room tip: Wifi is weak, and works only in the bar/restaurant
