The hotel is very conveniently located - and is clean. There is a nice pool and the staff are friendly. Those are the positives. As many have mentioned, there is only AC from 6 - 10 pm. This led to an uncomfortable night's sleep as it was rather stuffy by 2 in the morning. There was an old-fashioned standing fan in the room which made a lot of noise but did little to cool off the room. In addition, we had no hot water, despite the hotel's claims.

We felt that this was the worst food that we had on our Madagascar trip. Although the menu sounded good, the quality could be improved.

The biggest problem we had was that we were not able to lock our door. We tried repeatedly and then called the hotel staff. They were rather brusque with us and showed us how to do it. But then when we pulled on the door, it just opened. It was clear that they could also not lock our door! It could have been just our bungalow, but we were not happy to have a day out with all of our things in the room, even if they were locked in our luggage.

To reiterate, not a bad hotel. But needs more attention to detail.

This lodge is close to the reserve and was quite a hospitable stay. The rooms were clean and large. They offered fans, which were needed even in May. The air conditioning is available until 12:30am only. Our meals were very good. I did not partake of the pool but it looked inviting. I'd stay here again

We booked two nights at the Ankarana Lodge. I found it a bit overpriced, as, it was the most expensive accomodation of the whole trip to Madagascar. We were welcomed with a nice drink and we went into the beautiful pool. At the first night, we had dinner at the restaurant, whitch is at a wonderful place. The dinner was nice. Only the room wereld we slept was hot and the airconditioning only worked from 18:00 to 22:00 and that wasn't enough for a room for four. The next day we went to Ankarana National Park and did the tour with the bridge, whitch was fantastisch by the way. But I broke my leg there on the way back. And that is where the service of the hotel really went fantastic when I came back at the hotel. They did an awesome job, offered their phone, arranged a lot of things, we could stay longer until the helicopter came, we could eat at the room, they carried me. They were so nice and helpful. I hope I come back to them one time because they are so nice and to continue the rest of my trip.

The lodge is 3* at best but cannot be matched for its location in relation to the nearby Ankarana national park where one can take 4-5hour hikes into the forest to see lemurs, snakes and the famous Tsingy rock formations. Service is prompt, friendly and Meals are provided on a basis whereby you write up your choice on a board beforehand that is stationed near the pool. The pool is well maintained and is a welcome respite from the humid tropical climate in this part of the world. The chalets are nestled in the forest and do include mosquito nets which are an absolute necessity here. For dinner, treat yourself to a banana flambé and dive into the host of selections from the bar.

Note that there is no wifi or use of credit card facilities at this location.

We stayed for one night. The short story was a very friendly staff, clean room with a/c and hot water and the meal was decent. It seems they made decent efforts to fix the most recent bad reviews. We checked the other hotels in the area but they were few levels below and we recommend to stay in the Ankarana lodge if you are a couple with medium budget will like to have some class on your trip
