Beautiful Spot & Wildlife in abundance
My husband and I have stayed at Anjajavy for 7 nights in August 2012. We travelled by Cessna from Antananarivo to Anjajavy, it is only a 1-2 hours flight, depending on aircraft. We were surprised when we arrived, the place is amazing and there is wildlife in abundance. Our main reason to choose this hotel was the beautiful area around and the wildlife to discover. This was kind of our – delayed honeymoon.
The bungalows are wonderfully designed, very pretty and practical. Every bungalow has its own balcony with hammock, deckchairs and small table looking out onto the sea. There is a minibar with coffee & tea making facility, aircon, hairdryer, safe and enough power outlets to charge your equipment. The bungalows have an upstairs and downstairs area, if you travel as a family with small children, they are perfect, your kids can sleep upstairs. The rooms are clean and the hotel supplies 1.5 ltr of conplementary water per person per day – which is the most I have been given so far. Most hotels skimp and give you only a 200 ml bottle.
So on the accommodation front I give the bungalows 5 stars. My personal suggestion would be, a small parasol on balcony area to sit out in the afternoon.
The Hotel is in a protected area and supports the protection of the forest area around it, including planting new trees and supporting the villages around. There are many routes for you to walk (map supplied in your room) and see the beautiful birds, lemurs, chameleons, snakes. On every walk you will see something new. There are about 4 or 5 great beaches to walk to and to discover. The Hotel offers several trips, we personally have participated in the boat trip to see the sacred African Baobab tree, which was great. I would also highly recommend the night and early morning walks with Rado (not sure if I got his name right), this guy really spots everything, his English language skills are absolutely great (sadly we do not speak malagassy or French) and he is very knowledgeable about animal and plant life around you.
The hotel itself has got some well-maintained pretty gardens which they call the Oasis where you can find the lemurs at different times of the day. Look closely, sometimes you can also see chameleons and rare bird species! The beach is beautiful, clean and the sea is perfect to swim and snorkel.
Service & Staff:
The Staff has been extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. Every member of the staff speaks english. The food was good but I personally would add a little more vegetables, fresh salads and fresh fruit to the menu. However, I cannot complain because once mentioned to the very friendly manager I received lettuce and tomatoes with my meals ! On our last day we have been able to plant a medicinal tree - thanks Cedric, we hope it has grown a lot already ! We really have been treated well by management and staff and would like to say thanks again for the wonderful time we were able to spent at Anjajavy !! We were very sad that we had to leave.
I would definitely recommend this place. If I could, I would even return for a second visit
