This is well worth a visit, you don't have to be religious to enjoy the beauty of it, there isn't much there, but the views from the top of the statue provide a fantastic view of Jounieh, Beirut and Byblos and other vantage points around the area. A nice escape from the heat and humidity of the coast. Plenty of facilities on site, also there are some really nice restaurant on the road up to Harissa that are worth a visit, most of them have views down the mountain to the sea. We didn't use the teleferic but drove up which was straight forwards.

There is not much to do while at the top, but definitely a beautiful view on the way up. There was an extremely long line to buy tickets for the telefrique. It was very unorganized and the lady simply stopped selling tickets for about 30 minutes because she said it was too busy. Then, once in the telefrique the electricity went out..a little terrifying but after about 7 minutes it turned back on and we continued up the mountain. After that, lots of steps to the top. Take some pics, look around, and then back in the telefrique all the way down.

You take a rickety-feeling cable car ride up the mountainside past apartment buildings. At the top is a Burger King with a playground and sweets shop. Then you can either walk or take a funicular to the religious shrine. It was the end of a long day, so we did not make it to the top. The views were nice, but not spectacular.

There isn't much to see / do in Jounieh but the telefrique ride up to Harissa is a treat. It's not the Sacre Couer but may be the closest thing to it in Lebanon.
