Harissa is a mountain village in Lebanon.
Harissa means "to protect" and it is a village, which is located 650 meters
above sea level, is home to an important
Lebanese pilgrimage site, Our Lady of
Lebanon.
On the heights of Jounieh the statue of virgin mary overlooks the bay.
A panoramic view is garanteed at the top of the immaculate statue.
You have to take a curled stairway all arround the statue to reach the top and from this location you can admire the beauty of lebaneese coast.
Inside the base of the statue is a samall maronite chapel .
You can reach this monument by using a car cable where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Jounieh.

Reviewed July 29, 2013

you will have the best view for Jounieh bay
you can take a teleferic cabin from jounieh city to go there and this could be a beautiful experience and have a good look to the shore and the mountains at the same time

“Serene place. Good photo views.”
Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

Easily accessible via car, also via the " teleferique" cable cars from the seaside near the Jounieh Football field.
Once there, there is a huge catholic church (im told its the biggest in the ME). Impressive architechture.
Also one can climb up the stairs surrounding the Mother Mary statue. Ground level gives impressive views of the city and bay of Jounieh. A small but expensive restaurant is next to the cable car point. Souvenir shops are also present.
