“Not worth of entrance fee”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2014

These are just ruins. Dont waste money to go inside. Only get to see the sea from top. Otherwise nothing special

“Amazing historical value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2014 via mobile

This is one of the most ancient castles in the world. Full of history, having been invaded by many armies across the centuries. The $15 entrance fee is worth it to see the inside and the views from the castle. You can get a guided tour for $20 (prepare to tip though) and it will last about 30 minutes. I will not spoil the fun by giving out details but if you're a history "buff", this is with it.

“Nature around it and idea of the city that has been populated since ever...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2014

The Castle itself is not very fancy, but you can grasp centuries behind it... Before Crusaders there were Romans, before them there were Persians, Phoenicians... It comes as a nice addition to the scenery, after the Byblos old streets and sea before it...
Don't miss to go and enjoy amphitheater almost at the very coast. Lovely! You can also enter one of the graves of old Phoenician kings, but if you don't have proper shoes, maybe you want to miss this. :) Nature is adorable, as well as the air, especially in May and beginning of June...
You don't really need a guide if you are not already visiting as part of a bigger package.
P.S. I mentioned the local company whose services I always use- Nakhal. I love the way they operate and this is 100% secure company. They bought me by allowing me to book place for one of the tours in advance without having to pay in advance. They will show up at your hotel, pick you, and return you. Look at their website to see offers.

“byblos castle... WOW”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2014

byblos castle is one of the most amazing castles in the world! this castle stands on a cliff on the beach... inside, you can see the big and majestic tombs of kings and even see a skeleton of 5 years old kid in a jar at the little meseum inside the castle. Then, when you are on the top of the castle, and after viewing the amazing constructions u can see the breathtaking view of the beach :) must see....

“Forgotten Place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2014 via mobile

Forgotten Place-it is really a shame to see such a great Historical site forgotten like that. Bushes and lots of grass hides its greatness. Some parts are dangerous for young children.Last time I was there goes back to 25 years. I remember having said to my parents the same phrase my 7 years old daughter told me: Why no one is taking care of our castle?
