“Impressive and well-kept”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

This was one of the high-lights of our trip to Lebanon. We arrived early to avoid the crowds and wandered around for about 2 hours. It's beautifully restored. The kids also loved the open space.

“Easily accessible Crusader castle and Roman ruins in a pretty little town”
Reviewed June 9, 2012

The castle has a couple of museum rooms in it that help explain the site, but there are endless ruins to wander round that are properly bewildering if you're not a specialist. The guides are experts (possibly too much so for the casually interested). Lovely town, and well worth a visit while you're there. And lets you tick off 'crusader castle without going too far from Beirut!

“Fascinating if jumbled history”
Reviewed June 7, 2012

Big site, with millenia of history on top of each other. Could have done with a guide but still a great experience.
