We stayed in Byblos Sur Mer over the weekend, it's a very good, recently renovated boutique hotel that is just across the street from the sea and Byblos port , the staff went out of their way to meet and exceed every issue we had, I highly recommend it.

I rarely give excellent to a hotel but this hotel was fitting what we expected. I really recommend this hotel to families who seek a quiet place across the sea and not like crowded , club oriented Jounieh in Lebanon. The rooms are large with comfortable beds and awesome view. The only slight problem in the room is see-through glass windows of the shower room. I suggest the hotel owners to add a rolling curtain to shower window to make it more comfortable for a family who use the room together.

This nice & comfi little hotel, freshly renovated and directly on the picturesque, antique port of Byblos is great for a few days off. The whole hotel has been renovated recently and furnished in a very good taste. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Though there is access to a large outside area full with sun-beds, a small pool, a bar and sea access the hotel has no own beach access.
if you are there check out the small shop downstairs - they have beautiful pictures done by a local artist for very reasonable prices!
Byblos itself is a beautiful little town, with a lot of really nice houses built on a small hill around the antique port. the old souk is a must! if you are a bit open start to talk with the locals, they are very nice and suddenly you'll end up drinking lebanese coffee and smoking agile for a whole afternoon with some people you just met.

Room Tip: all rooms except the suites are facing the sea, the suites are facing the port. the rooms in level 1...

the hotel is newly renovated and is so beautifully decorated. we stayed in the executive suite. the room is beyond words..the view is breathtaking from the balcony overlooking the byblos port. the hotel is located right at the port and its just steps from the all the restaurants and pubs in jbeil. The service is outstanding and so personalized.. the breakfast is oh so yummy .. we loved everything in the hotel..the staff are extremely helpful. If you are looking for a nice getaway and want to enjoy lebanon with all its gorgeous flavors..thats the hotel to book! cant wait to go back!

Room Tip: book a portview room.. its even nicer than the seaview!!

Beautiful hotel situated right in the heart of historical Byblos. Sunsets on the water, shopping, restaurants, monuments and bars all w/in a short walk. Our family and friends all stayed here for a wedding, so we got to see several rooms and they were all top notch in size and comfort. The lower 2 floors facing the water had private balconies, while the upper 2 levels were slightly larger with huge windows and suites had both and were huge and elegant. All rooms were very modern and the beds were absolutely terrific. Straight across the street and on the water is a pool and large bar where you turn in your room key for beach towels.

We took a $5us taxi to Ocean Blue for sun, pool and beach and a 20min return walk that took us by a couple other really nice pool/beach/bars (Edde Sands being one).

While Beirut can be a bit extreme but incredible in itself with the mix of brand new and bombed out buildings, massive and crazy traffic and military, Byblos is very safe, friendly and fun.

The small village of 'Aley' in the hills above Beirut was also very nice and would be a good option to stay if you wanted to mix things up with your time in Lebanon. On your way from Beirut to Aley, you'll want to stop at the Hope for Peace monument at the Ministry of Defence, it's really incredible.

Some 'must' do's when in Lebanon, is to eat a shawarma (basically a small kebab), knefah (sweet, cheese filled bread), as well as all the famous Lebanese sweets while smoking your narghile (hookah).

This was our first time in Lebanon, I'm American and my wife is Australian and everyone was very warm and welcoming to us. Be cautious not to take photo's of the police, military (Lebanese or UN), certain buildings (which they'll quickly inform you if you're not certain), and of course the Hezbollah, which will be made known with a yellow flag.

I wouldn't dare to drive as most roads didn't have lanes and if they did, I doubt anyone would use them. Get the price before taking a taxi as every single one tried to rip us off and know the name of where you're going, area and best to even help guide if you can as they won't know street names or address.

In Beirut, a good evening out can be found in Gemayze and a lunch at La plage (in front of the Hard Rock), is well worth the money (we had a bottle of wine and full meal for under $100us).

We truly enjoyed Lebanon and wouldn't hesitate to return.

As soon as I entered I was greeted by the beautiful East Mediterranean hospitality. The room was spotless and straight onto the sea. Food can't be beat around the old souk. Attention to detail is very obvious. It was a pleasure. Look for Anne Marie, she is very helpful and has a great smily face. I will be back. Do not miss the breakfast!
