King George Hotel

stayed there a few days in januari 2012. Father and son Tony were very friendly and helpfull. It's a good place, near the beach and the castle. I will go there again being in Libanon. I was there during the renovation of the hotel so there was no diner in the evening, but the possibility for order a meal coming from a take away restaurant downtown.

The place might not be too easy to find, but the first person we asked had no problems to tell us the way and with a sign on the road it was then not a real problem, after all. The two owners (father and son) gave us a more than warm welcome, were very open and friendly and would give us good advice where to go to in the city. They even offered us a lift downtown, but you could well walk. The hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood on a hill, but it's not far to the center.

The price per night was moderate and definitely affordable if you wan to stay for one or two nights (which is absolutely fine to explore Byblos). The rooms were very clean and cozy and with air condition. You can even order breakfast whichever time you like - just call the reception when you wake up and a homemade, delicious, libanese breakfast will be waiting for you. We really felt at home there, allthough we stayed for one night only... Strongly recommended!

This hotel is a little hard to find but well worth the effort. Kind, hospitable host, good value, which is rare in Lebanon.

Lebanon is not an easy-travel, backpacker friendly country. There are not much choices for budget hotels. However, King George Hotel is the best value for money choice I found till now. My partner checked more than 20 hotels in Beirut, which are either too crappy, or too expensive for budget travel. Plus one thing, most of them ask for extra payment if you want to use their internet.

We got a reasonable price (for Lebanon) for bed+internet. The owner and his son are very nice and helpful. They always ask if we need any help or service, and remind us again and again about the phone number of the front desk.

The room is not typical hotel style- I like this point. Fridge, microwave, AC, hot water and TV (though it's really very small) are equipped. Though furniture and electronic appliances are not new and well matched to the room, they function well. Most important of all, the room is clean.

The hotel building is at a nice location, keeping away from the main road, on a hill and facing the sea.

Sitting in the balcony, looking at the Mediterranean Sea, listening to the music and maybe having a drink is exactly what you can do here.
