nice lodge in a stunning landscape. It was a bit quiet in this time of year and because of the rains many animals migrated north. But the sitting at the lodge whatching the surroundings is amazing. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are huge!

If your looking to escape the troubles of the concrete jungle and crave for an experience where you feel one with nature, and I mean truly feel one with nature, then Samburu Sopa Lodge is your destination. We were fortunate enough to spend 5 days at the lodge and what was most memorable about it was the fact that the hotel and it's lodges were designed to integrate seamlessly with their surroundings giving them an authentic and stunning appeal with their manyatta-esque design, the bush thickets retained as gardens and the rugged look of the landscape. It just felt so wild without actually being in the wild. Then there's the diversity of bird species and lizards, if you're a bird watcher this will feel like bird heaven, their everywhere and each beautiful in it's own unique way. The game drives are a bit pricey(ksh.20,000 per drive), but if you have your own private means you can tag along with the tour guides for free, definitely worth exploring given the wide range of wildlife you see even as you drive into Samburu National Reserve. The food was generally Ok, not 5 star dining but tasty nonetheless. The Hotel service and hospitality was definitely 5 star though, our waiter who are individually assigned to each guests' table specifically throughout their stay, went out of his way to educate us on the origin and meanings behind the various indigenous names and people of the area and their rich history even as he continued to serve us diligently throughout our stay. Room service was timely and efficient and everything in our room was kept spick and span. All in all Sopa Samburu is a great remote retreat where you leave all the technological hurly-burly behind and embrace nature at it's divine best.

The place looks authentic.. You get a taste of the wildlife and you see a lot of animals!!
I think it could get a bit boring if you stay for long but i only stayed there for 2 days.
Lovely food, friendly people, amazing place..

Nice hotel in the middle of nowhere in the Samburu NP.
The staff here is extremely friendly and took the time to ask about which animals we saw on the safari at every meal.
They have a good pool and some sunbeds, which come in handy since around noon it's way too hot in this area to do game drives.
So... time to relax ;)

The hotel staff here were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They couldn't do enough for us and the food was delicious! Saw lots of animals on our game drives, but the most incredible was seeing a leopard drinking from the waterhole just by the restaurant where we were having our evening meal. The swimming pool was great for a dip after a days game driving.

I stayed here as part of a tour and it was great - the food was lovely and I enjoyed the experience of eating my meals whilst watching the animals - some even visited our tables! The rooms were spacious and included a large patio area which enabled you to view visiting animals such as baboons and various birdlife. The staff were friendly. I enjoyed having a swim and relax at the swimming pool. It is not flash 5 star type place but it is very comfortable and fits well into its surrounds.

Room Tip: Yes you do have a walk if you are in a room far from the reception area but that was not an issue fo...

Had a great welcoming experience. Carry Kenyan shillings, bcos they pay you less for USD. Very freindly staff. If you want to enjoy outdoors while eating do inform them and have your table booked in advance.

Room Tip: If you are not ready to walk ask for the nearest hut. You may need to walk upto to atleast 500 meter...
