I spent 4 days at the Samburu Intrepids Luxury Tented Camp. I had an absolutely wonderful time. There were game drives in the morning at sunrise and in the evening at sunset. And therewas much to see, Samburu park has an incredible range of animals, including 5 species that are unique to the part of Kenya.

I was picked up from the little Samburu airport and taken back when my stay was complete.

My driver, Dominic, was very knowledgeable about the animals. He could answer all questions and also knew when and where to find particular animals.

The lodge itself is very clean and well run, and has excellent food and service. It was my first time in the African bush and I was not sure what to expect, but they definitely exceeded my expectations.

I highly recommend it and would not hesitate to stay there again if I go back to that part of Kenya.

Room Tip: Keep in mind the rooms are tents, they are definitely "luxory" tents, but tents neverthele...

We visited this lovely camp while on safari in January 2014. Our tent was lovely, the staff very attentive and welcoming, and the food delicious. We also enjoyed the evening lectures about the wildlife and culture of Samburu.

We have recently returned from this great retreat hidden amongst the brushes of Sambura. We can't rate this place enough, we were treated like kings, the staff are very friendly.
We arrived for 2 days with our children and were meet with a cool towel and refreshing drink, prior to getting shown to our luxurious tents, which were laid out very well, with the bedrooms split at either side of the sitting room. I don't know if my words will be enough to explain how great these tents are, 4 poster beds, double sinks, private balcony with views of the river, they were miles more than I ever expected, well done Interpids.
We have stayed in other lodges in the Sambura game park, but this one, goes to the next level. The food has got to be one of the best we have tasted in Kenya, 5 course meals if you can eat that much. They have separate kids meals to suit all, our girls sometimes get fussy, but not here, they finished the lot.
We had chosen to go on both early morning and late afternoon game drive, the early morning drive started at half six and we were woken at six with hot chocolate and cookies which was a great touch which helped getting the kids out of bed. James was our personnel Sambura warrior who took so out on the safaris, who was very knowable about everything we seen and asked. His presentation was great and we all learnt something new. When we were sat around the lodge, he would take the girls away to learn how to use a bow and arrow, make beads, which they really enjoyed.
We even managed an hour or two by the pool, which could do with a little work done to it to bring it up to the rest of the lodge, but that's minor to be honest.
In summary, what a place, the accommodation was second to none, the food excellent and staff very friendly.
We will be back.

We can't rate Samburu Intrepids highly enough. We had an amazing time, both here and at the Mara Intrepids (organised through Gamewatchers Safaris, Nairobi). The staff were brilliant, the children (5 & 7) loved it, and our whole safaris experience was better than anything we ever imagined!

Room Tip: Family 'tent' was very spacious and comfortable.

This was our first Safari experience and we started in Samburu Intrepids and then moved to their sister camp in Masai Mara. With 2 children aged 7 & 8 I can't praise the team at Samburu Intrepids enough. Great "Tent" with excellent layout for family. Food was plentiful! And quality good. What made it though, as always, was the staff.

Our drive "Jelly" was fantastic! I would highly recommend him if you have a family as he dealt really well with sometimes tired kids. He always managed to maneuver our Landrover into the best viewing spots. He found Leopards and all other animals we could of wished for. We felt safe and his knowledge was excellent. Top marks Richard for Jelly.

The kids club is another highlight. A "proper" kids club that doesn't cook the kids up in a room doing drawing all day, but has them out doing activities, like butterfly catching, using bow and arrows (safely!) and walks, making bracelets, everything. A real attraction to us as a family. Well done to the team on this one.

Geoffrey, our waiter, kept us very well fed! Food quality was good. We come from Dubai where this is a tough one to beat. The food wasn't out of this world, but who cares. I'd much prefer the other things I mentioned above.

All in all. A very well done to Samburu Intrepids. Richard, you run a good team.

Thank you from us to Samburu Intrepids for making our holiday unforgettable.

Room Tip: Family tents are excellent!

This was our third visit to the lodge in 6 years. Still one of the best lodges in Samburu, and the service is great because of the staff of the lodge under the management of the GM, Richard. Food is great, dinner is the best, but breakfast is not so good as before. The intrepid lodges used to have the best food of most lodges in Kenya but that is now slipping away from them. The problem is the Management of the lodges in Nairobi is the cause of the decline in the standards of this chain of hotels, they are not serious about upkeep of their hotels and lodges. Many people have noticed this over the last 2 years and it's a sad to go down this way. I hope they can get a new senior management team in Nairobi to stop the slide downwards. I hope things will get better so that the lodges can maintain the great standards they had.

Room Tip: Quite rooms are further from common areas, if you want no disturbance from anyone except the animals...

It is hard to add to all the superlatives on this property. This was by far the best of three tented camps we stayed at on our safari. (The other two - Mara Intrepids and the Serena Sweetwater Tent Camp.)

We were lucky to get one of the two "suites" it is basically two typical tent rooms (1 with a king bed and 1 with 2 doubles) connected by another tent which is your living room - then you get an extra long deck /porch fronting the river. If you are travelling with a family this is the perfect setup,

The pool was great, the game watching and the terrain were off the chart and the staff was awesome.

I will recommend that any of our friends going to Kenya go to Samburu and stay at this camp!

Dear Guest,

Hallo and thank you for your nice comments about your stay at Samburu Intrepids Camp. I must say that we feel privileged to be rated first among 3 top class camps, one being our sister unit in the Mara; which we are also grateful that you visited.

We always take pride in offering the best services to our guests and we are happy to say that this has been made possible by the fact that we have such an amazing team of associates at the camp. I am also glad that you enjoyed the two joining tents with a lounge area at the centre which as you say is perfect for families with children.

Thank you once again for choosing Samburu Intrepids Camp and we all want wish you a prosperous New Year!

Best Regards,
Samburu Intrepids Team
