Ashnil Samburu Camp
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed February 24, 2012

What a starting place for our 8 day Safari. From the warmest of welcomes through to the visiting elephants Ashnil Samburu set the standards.
The accomodation was excellent , the staff , Florence stood out from a good set of people , were attentive and warm. Food offerings were never going to be gourmet delights but were tasty and plentifull.
All in all you can live the dream here and feel the better for the stay !!

Just returned from a wonderful safari with Odyssey. All of our accomodations were excellent but I have the fondest memories of Ashnil Samburu. The staff from the manager and assistant manager on down were extremely accomodating. Loved using the pool and having monkeys and elephants walking by.

Me and my partner cannot help but gush at this property. Amazing staff, amazing accomodation, amazing view from our balcony. Team of staff, namely Benjamin and Florence has made our stay a truly memorable one. They were attentive to our needs and we became friends after just 2 days! Hospitality is amazing. We stayed in a very nice hut house, overlooking the river and the plains on the other side and we were able to see a herd of elephants barely 4 metres from us and it was a sight to behold. Food was great, accomodation facility was very very impressive. Just out of the property is samburu nature reserve and we saw another herd of elephants, zebras, impalas and giraffes. Definitely worth staying here and I cannot wait to come back here in the near future to visit my friends again!

Fantastic! Elephants right outside your tent. What a great way to wake up in the mornings!

Room Tip: Can't go wrong with any of the tents.

The rooms are luxury tents in the middle of the Samburu wilderness. There are baboons and monkeys walking freely among the tents. And in the night, we heard the lions roaring.
The buffet food for breakfast, lunch and dinner is very good. The vegetarian food is made Indian style, and I wish the restaurants over here made food like that!
The naturalist in the staff is a native from Samburu tribe and it was a joy spending the evening around the fire listening about their traditional way of the life.

We spent two nights here as part of an Odyssey Safaris tour. Buffet offered for all meals was very good. Accomodations were quite comfortable. But what stood out was the extremely attentive service provided by the wonderful staff. This was a highlight of a fantastic vacation.
