“Comfort Food”
Reviewed December 22, 2012 via mobile

Lorenzo's was recommended to us by the Italian man who owned our bed and breakfast where we stayed. We are so glad that we went. We read the reviews and some were quite negative unfortunately because we had a wonderful dinner. When we arrived it was early so we were the only patrons. The waitress gave us a choice of anywhere we would like to sit and seemed very nice. We looked over the menu and found no wine list. The waitress informed us that there wasn't one and the wines were on display. We checked them out and were not very impressed. Having to get up and look at them then ask the price and so on was a bit annoying so we ordered beers instead. No problem. We both had a mixed green salad to start. My husband ordered the capriciosa pizza with ham, artichokes and mushrooms. He said it compared well to the other tasty pizzas he's had in Malindi. I ordered the green peppercorn fillet with sauce and mashed potatoes. It was delicious! The meat was tender and juicy and there was not a speck of fat or gristle anywhere. Our waitress was always there to help us and was very courteous. The prices were expected for white table cloth service and excellent food. We will be back and recommend friends. One suggestion to the owners would be to print a wine list with prices so guests don't have to stand up and walk around the wine display. It kind of killed the mood so we ordered beer. Wine would have made dinner better! Thanks.

“An excellent Italian Resturant- agreat find.”
Reviewed April 1, 2012

My wife and I were staying in Malindii for our fourth time and were there for some six weeks for sun, fishing, relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere of this seaside town.We hunted and found Lorenzo's and ended up having five lunches their as we ate in our Hotel in the evenings when we were in Malindi. Fine parma ham well cut from the bone with wonderful sweet melon!! Great and authentic risotto with porchini and a good bottle of senssible priceed Italian wine with a cool breeze, fine service and a peacful and excellent resturant What more could one ask for ? Excellent coffe, fair prices and this was just our first visit of many! If you wish for sophistication above the normal level with excellent food and service then this is the best resturant in Malindi and we have tried many! It has no connection with the hotel appartments which are on site.

“One of the better restaurants in Malindi”
Reviewed March 9, 2011

We were fortunate enough to be staying at Mwembe for two weeks so had Lorenzo's on our door step. The night we arrived we ate there through pure convenience but liked it so much that we ate there a further 5 evenings during our stay. Im not a huge fan of Italian restaurants ( having been spoiled by my Auntie Louisas cooking at a young age ) but the choice on the menu catered for every taste and was well prepared and presented. ( the pasta may have been a bit aldente for my tastes but then Im a Mzungu from Northern Europe so what do I know !) The service was also very good with very friendly and helpful staff. Little touches , like complimentary pate and rosemary / garlic bread whilst deciding on the menu made the dining experience so much more enjoyable. The setting within Mwembe resort is just perfect and the open airiness of the restaurant adds to the enjoyment. In all good food , good wine, good service and good prices.

“Great Italian Food”
Reviewed January 4, 2010

Lorenzo's is a separate business located on the Mwembe Resort. The food was consistently good, the grilled lobster awesome. Great service. Limited to Italian and a few other foods. Some separate tables off of the restaurant seating area where you can pull curtains and have some privacy. Worth at least one meal if you are in Malandi.
I would not drive my own car as the "resort" does not let you on the premises to park near the restaurant, expect to pay US prices for alcohol.
