I stayed at Kibo for 2 nights in December 2013 and had a lovely experience.
Management recently uploaded some photos of their new luxury tents, which are currently being built. One of the staff members was kind enough to show us some of these luxury tents, which apparently all of the tents will eventually be transformed to. As it is currently, however, most of the tents are rather basic, with tarp floors and almost no separation between the bathroom and bedroom. Though not luxurious, it was still quite comfortable and we enjoyed the experience nonetheless.
Location is great - very close to the Amboseli NP Gate (right outside of the park) and directly facing Kilimajaro (though don't expect to see it anytime outside of the morning hours).
Our favorite aspect of the camp was the lovely outdoor bar area, where we sat under the stars and enjoyed a nice beverage before each dinner. The atmosphere is very quiet and, even though it is a larger camp, the feeling of being among nature is wonderful.More
