This is a hotel - not a camp so to speak - but it's smack in the bush, Mount Kilimanjaro is in full view and the rooms are half tents and half concrete so the camp feeling is certainly there. That said, It was a really large room so a walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night was a long long way off. The food was good but not very imaginative so the same options were on offer every day. The pool has a unique design and is large enough to guarantee a leisurely swim or brisk laps. Th best thing about this hotel must be the staff; especially, Esther (Guest Relations) always had a warm smile, a moment to chat and always ready to help in every way. They also have a great live band who were cheerful, turned out music from every part of the globe and had everyone on their feet in no time. An observation deck in the middle of the restaurant guaranteed a good view of the surrounding park and Kilimanjaro but the extreme lighting contrast meant disappointing photos - if you want to be in them with the mountain as a back drop.
Down side: the rooms are individually constructed and so widely spaced, it felt lonely and scary sometimes (although there were armed guards on the premises). The music was usually very loud and in all that open space travels very far; one wonders if all that noise is good for the wild animals.
