The restaurant is at 36 Dostyk, just up from the park.
Lovely looking from the outside with an expensive and well thought through arabic decour on the inside.
I sat outside on the large covered terrace. Simply superb first class surroundings with considerable attention to detail.
The food: a mix of Georgian, Indian, Arabic and Kazakh dishes. This makes more sense at Safran than it sounds as I write it. I would say that the food is excellent in quality.
Drink: very good accross the board though I had a beer.
Service: attentive, friendly and timely. I cannot speak either Russian or Kazakh so a waiter was found who could assist me. That being said: my starter and main arrived at the same time. I'd blame the waiter but both were piping hot so I think it is the kitchen and may be the style of service here in Almaty. The food was excellent, a shame I couldn't have had it in series! For dessert I ordered a chocolate ball filled with fruit and vanilla ice cream: imagine my surprise to be served creme brulee and a lovely sorbet. Anyway, you get the picture.
