Location is fantastic! Right next door to the main shopping centres and train station (less than 2 minutes walk). The shops stay open until 9pm every night so easy to get your shopping in! Also close to lots of bars and restaurants, which was great for our quick one night stay. Sendai itself is a lovely clean city, bustling but not too busy, and all you might need. The hotel staff were brilliant - friendly and helpful. Would recommend and would stay again.

In the midst of the restaraunts (2 floors down in the mall), great shopping centre attached to the hotel, the main Sendai train station is also attached making it so easy to gey around. The location can not be beat.

The rooms have a semi traditional Japanese bath shower which is great at the end of the day.

Wifi in the lobby and wired internet in the rooms is high speed.

I was traveling with a group on a goodwill mission to Sendai, Ishinomaki, Kesennuma and Iwaki City. Hotel Metropolitan was our last stop, and we spent two nights there. The location was convenient to Sendai Station and many shops and department stores. S-Pal department store connects to Hotel Metropolitan. While the room was a little small, it was a typical size of other hotel rooms in Japan. I found the room to be nice and comfortable. Because our group had a lot of baggage that we needed 24 hour access to, the hotel staff was very accomodating every time we needed their assistance. And, with each request, they always greeted us with a smile and total professionalism. They really went out of their way to help our group and make sure that everything was okay each day.

I spent two nights at the Hotel Metropolitan. I booked on the internet and got a good deal that included breakfast. Breakfast is served either as a buffet in a western restaurant (pretty average) or as a set menu in the Japanese restaurant - this was a real gem -a fantastic experience and wonderful food ...and a great start to the day. The room was clean and had everything you need but nothing exceptional. There was no wifi in the room (a common issue in Japan) and all the TV channels were Japanese. The room was also hot: why do hotels always only put a doona on a bed even when the overnight temp is above 15 degrees! But the staff were very helpful and friendly and it was great value - and a great location right on top of Sendai station, so a great base for exploring this gorgeous and under-appreciated city!

6 months after the earthquake the hotel is in remarkable shape.

Lovely rooms, uber comfy beds, all mod cons (free internet - are you listening European hotels?) excellent toiletries.

Great breakfast (mixture of Western and Japanese buffet).

The cocktails in the "Knight" bar are wonderful, and better value than many high end hotels,

The location can't be bettered in terms of handiness for the Shinkansen. We didn't eat at night in the hotel - and why would you, when the railway station restaurants are so good (I kid ye not). You can't visit Sendai without trying cow-tongue, and we had a perfectly good spread with beers for less than £25 a head at Date no Gyutan. An honorable mention goes to Kirin City Izakaya nearby too,

The hotel is a full service business hotel ideal for travellers needing some home comforts.

Couldn't fault it.

First impressions of the hotel are good. The building looks modern from the outside, the lobby is fairly grand and the concierge and front desk staff are welcoming, helpful and immaculately attired. Hopes remain high as you ascend in a modern elevator to a newly refurbished and stylish floor above the city. But then you open the door to your room...and even if the heart doesn't sink it hardly leaps for joy. It's smallish, liberally dressed in dark and rather depressing mock-wood veneer, and with the most bizarre layout in which the bathroom takes up about 50% of the entire space. Whoever came up with this design? The requisite amenities are more or less all there, but it's very much like stepping into another hotel altogether after the experience in the public areas.

We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, but had two very good dinners at the main western restaurant, so no faults there.

Probably the best thing about the Metropolitan is it's ultra-convenient location, sitting more or less on top of Sendai station. It makes travel very easy. But if this is not a priority for you, and you don't mind walking a few blocks to the station, I'd suggest checking out the brand new Westin Hotel. For more or less the same money I suspect it would offer a better room experience.

Spent a night here and was simply delighted by how new and well furnished the hotel was and the nice spacious bedroom allocated. It is is attached to the Sendai station and bus terminal. For anyone after a well priced, comfortable hotel room that is conveniently located to public transport this hotel is second to none. The bonus is the location is a nice busy shopping hub with lots of department stores and shops that I had no time to check out. I did manage to find a nice small cafe to enjoy my curry hamburg dinner which was yummy and inexpensive. On average, while not all staff are comfortable in English, there appears to be a number of staff members who understand English very well indeed. If all else fails, use the travel agency at the Sendai station as the staff there are very helpful and fluent in English.
