“Full of character and very friendly”

I spent two weeks in this lovely place. So close to the city but in a little side street so very quiet. Everyone was friendly, it was a sad time to leave. The food in the restaurant is very delicious and so it the beer on tap. The friendly fluffy mascot, Gunther, always makes me smile. I cant wait to come back!!!!! The rooms are big (for Japan) and comfortable and there is free internet downstairs... what more could you ask for???

We stayed two nights in this friendly pleasant ryokan. Had a huge room (with fridge etc and a comfy couch as well) and loved it. Make sure you eat at the great restaurant run by the daughter. The set meal was fabulous and very reasonably priced - as was the ryokan itself - at 8000Yen for two it compares very well to our usual Toyoko Inn stays with much more Japanese character.

This is a traditional Japanese ryokan. Initially my husband and I had problem finding this ryokan. Luckily we approached a very helpful security guard from one of the hotel near the Morioka Station. He helped us to call the ryokan and he roughly guide us to the direction to the ryokan. To our surprise, the friendly owner actually come all the way out to search for us....

Although the rooms a bit old and the furniture a bit worn off, but the warm and the cosy feeling of the ryokan had make our stay quite a pleasant one...

  • Liked — nice and cosy ryokan
  • Disliked — furnitures are a bit worn off
