We stayed here for 10 nights while visiting family in Morioka. We had a comfortable stay. Our non-smoking twin room was spacious with large, comfortable beds. Great views of the surrounding mountains. The staff don’t speak English and unfortunately we don’t know Japanese, which made communication a little difficult. We got by, though, and I have to say that the lovely staff tried to go out of their way to help us.
The location isn’t great for the centre of Morioka, and we spent a lot of money on taxis. It’s possible to walk to the nearest station in about 20 minutes for a 10-minute train ride into the centre, though.
The communal hot bath was lovely – a real treat in the evening after a day out and about in the freezing cold. I mostly had the female bath to myself, given that most of the other guests were businessmen. It’s very much a business hotel.
We didn’t love the Japanese breakfast (and we’re willing to try most things!). Some fruit, maybe cereal would have been welcome. It also ended quite early, meaning we weren’t always up in time.
Overall, I’d stay at the chain again, but would prefer to be more central.More
