Went on a windy day but overall it was absolutely stunning. Beautiful blue ocean and white sands. At the time it was too cold for people to be swimming and yet there were lots of people milling around.
Beautiful and picturesque, this beach in the Kochi prefecture at the entrance to Urado Bay is not a swimming area due to strong undercurrents, but it is a place to wet your feet and relax. For small rock collectors there is a plethora to choose from – very colourful and smooth. The pathway to the beach can either be direct or by descending the walkway from the bronze statue of Sakamoto Ryoma.
The surrounding area is made into a small recreational park. The beach is pebbly, most likely from volcanic lava. The views were stunning. We enjoyed the walk along the path.
The hill viewing the beach was pretty but the beach itself not that impressive and you cannot swim there because of strong currents. It is at the end of the MyBus route though so it was ok to make a quick visit after going to Makino Botanic Gardens.
We are great fans of beaches. In fact there have to be tens of thousands of miles of beautiful beaches world wide and this is just one more! There are many great photo opportunities and the scenery is very nice.
The statute is OK, but not as great as the beach!
This is part of the "standard tour" so you simply go along with the flow.....
Anyone who loves history should stop by the famous beach with the Sakamoto Ryoma statue. There is a nice little aquarium, pretty shrine, and many gift shops in the area, so there are plenty of activities for all family members. However, due to the tides you can't walk out on the beach, which was a bit of a disappointment to find out.
