“Great hotel in Takamatsu”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

Wrapping up our Shikoku trip (a round island drive), Takamatsu was our last stop before heading back to Osaka. Rooms are large and can fit 3 beds (our friend has 3 ppl in their party) and the two rooms we had got great view of the pier and the Takamatsu castle. Right next to the train station and the pier to the various neighboring islands. Staffs were great and helpful. Would definitely stay there again if visiting the Shikoku areas.

We spent one night here on our way to Naoshima. the hotel is large, the rooms and big and well equipped, I like the decor of the room. The views were amazing and the hotel is very close to the train station. We did not eat there, just to many good options around and cheaper prices but had breakfast. Breakfast was large, varied and all tastes should be catered for.

Check in and out went smoothly and fast. Liked the hotel.

Room Tip: As high as you can get as the street is busy and the view is great from the top.

This is a high quality hotel in a perfect location close to the ferries both stations and the town centre we had room 1606 A spacious room with a massive bed and everything you could want in a hotel room but also with a fantastic view looking across the port area out to the islands in the distance. The hotel has great facilities including the top two floors which are floors 21 and 22 that are 'sky' restaurant and 'sky' bar with good atmosphere great service and great food. For a hotel of this quality the prices were ok. There is a fantastic patisserie on the ground floor as well as a cafe and another restaurant. If you want a great hotel in a great location at a good price this is the place to stay.

We rolled up to the entrance on bicycles, saying, “Checking in, please!” Not an eyelash was batted as they gave us claim checks for our bikes. We had booked a twin room and requested a high floor, and were given 1601, a mighty nice and spacious room with three huge windows covering 270 degrees view and a fourth huge window in the bath / shower room, overlooking the harbour, the inland sea and the Castle grounds. The room was very well- appointed, large, and with a nice desk. The amenities were many and useful.
My only gripe was that the room was stuffy and the windows could not be opened. There was a machine which, with enough random poking of buttons labeled only in Kanji, finally produced a cool and fresh stream of recirculated air.
The hotel is right by the JR station, and right across from literally dozens of ferries going every which way to various islands. It could not be more convenient. Our Ferry to Kobe, the Jumbo Ferry, was not nearby but there is a free shuttle bus to there. The hotel would be a great base for day trips to the many islands and sights around the area.
Breakfast features a wide buffet selection, all very good. The pastries were amazing. They might be the best I have ever had, and certainly a five- star hotel in Paris would be proud to serve them.
I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The rooms with "01" are large corner rooms with great views over the harbour

Excellent location, right by the main transportation means.
Pleasant view on the inland sea, harbour, city.
Very decent hotel. Limited English, but all requests were granted. Good service.Very good room. Was booked by an agency, for me, and paid as part of a package, so I do not know if I had a standard or upgraded room. Anyhow, a very good room, bathroom effective, everything in good order. Pleasant toiletteries.
Did not try the restaurant.
No problem in having my big luggage shipped through ‘Kuro neko’, the Japanese business that takes care of shipping travelers’ luggage from one place to the other, in Japan (saves a lot of hassle in public transportations).
This hotel is part of a commercial building complex. Through a covered glass passerelle (kind of bridge), we have access to an area with many restaurants. Had great supper in Japanese restaurant over there.
Breakfast at the hotel was great, buffet, excellent choices.
Would certainly go back, without hesitation.

Room Tip: enjoyed the view of my room, on the harbour.

The hotel is located so close to the all the transportation one would need - boats, trains and local buses/street cars. It's a really decent, pleasant hotel. Bag forwarding was no problem. The room we had was a bit small [a corner room, which is smaller than their standard rooms, according to the floor plan that's posted inside. But the view of the port was magnificent.
If you go to the bar, bear in mind they have the 'seat charge,' which, although not too large, is still annoying to know about after the after the fact. the islands are beyond belief fantastic in all respects - nature, local population and contemporary art/architecture. we really enjoyed the stay in Kagawa.

Room Tip: the website had no vacancies, but when I called apparently they had a room. so it's worth to cal...

Facilities and room quality very good, reasonable price. Had an amazing view over harbour, had good parking facilities. We went to the main downstairs restaurant which served basic European dishes, but the other oriental restaurants were much better, if much more expensive. The concierge had moderately good english, but half of the time I thought they were nodding and saying 'yes' out of politeness and saving face rather than being fully communicative in a helpful way. We did get all requests resolved though. We travelled with two kids in cots, and found a standard room far too small, but a twin was quite spacious and well worth the small additional charge. (Booked through Nippon Travel Agency, with upgrade organised myself at the hotel). Location is excellent, being opposite the ferry terminals and at the coast, with good views from the hotel. There's not much to see in Takamatsu itself so don't be put off by the industrial-sounding location, it's actually quite attractive.
Overall the quality of stay is what you would expect from a quality hotel aimed at business and holiday guests.
