As the hotel we usually stay in when visiting Takamatsu was booked because of a holiday weekend we selected the Dormy Inn. It is what it claims to be, a good 3-star hotel, nothing more.
We had a double room which was a bit small but ok for a short stay. The breakfast was very Japanese with a few other options so it was fine. The wifi was good, but the TV does not have English stations. The hotel’s staff was friendly and helpful.
The hotel is a taxi ride from the train station. It is well located in the center of the shopping area (with its covered shopping street). The taxi driver asked us which Dormy Inn (the other one is Dormy Inn Takamatsu Chuo Koenmae Natural Hot Spring). All we had to do is read the address off the confirmation to get to the right one.
The hotel has a very good list and map of recommended Udon restaurants in the area. It is especially useful because it has at the opening times and days. and We went to Udon Bo that was very good.
It was quite easy to get taxis to go the harbor to catch the ferry to Naoshima and, in the other director, to Ritsurin Garden. There is a taxi stand near the hotel across the street as you walk toward the covered shopping street.More
