Excellent says it all. The service is unbelievable and the food is out of this world. Your chair is held out for you at your table when you are seated. The menu has seafood and steak mostly. You start off with a wait staff placing the napkin in your lap. Then a warm towel to clean you hands. It only gets better from there. Be sure to check the local tour books for coupons.

Food is fantastic, service is very attentive. Ate there 3 times, and was never disappointed. Price is commensurate - usually spent about $35.

Some may call this American, but the distinctive pot of curry soup comes from no known state in the union. And the fresh fish always cooked well, is that American or is it what we should get any place in the world, including on the Okinawan shores of the Pacific in a sea-side setting that seems a bit business-like (a boat yard, a military communications site) and at the same time peaceful and tranquil. The sides are an idea of American food perhaps but not an idea born in the USA. All of this to say it's delicious, familiar but distinctive, unique, and fused with a Japanese or Okinawan sensibility too. A walk after dinner is pleasant to be sure.

The place is frequented by the Americans who live on Okinawa, and by tourists from the mainland. Koreans come here too.

The place has a nautical theme with workers in crew uniforms and Tiki-style tsotchkes for sale. It seems to celebrate Okinawan, Hawaiian, and US moments in the past.

But the food? Excellent, fresh fish and sea food, grilled, fried, sometimes steamed it seems. Fish is tender, moist, and tasty. The sides are worth it too. All in all, a very fun place to go for two, for families, for tourists and for everyone else too.

Pies have been something worthwhile, lemon, lime, and others. Sam's has had a number of restaurants on Okinawa, an Italian, a pie store, and steaks. The current steak houses are excellent too. Food is excellent, the experience memorable, service efficient and friendly and professional. I have been eating at their places since the 1980s, and in all that time, they have been fun, delicious, reliable, and distinctive.

Red Lobster? I haven't been, but if it's true that Sam's is like Red Lobster, I will be going tonight.
