Usually the statement of "The best pizza in Okinawa" does not hold much water since there isn't much to brag about pizza here in Japan...UNTIL having stumbled across Bacar the other night! Having been fortunate to have tried pizzas in NYC, Chi-Town, and in Italy on a couple of occasions, I always try to keep my expectations in check when it comes to pizza. Bacar is authentic, European pizza. From the custom designed wood fired "oven" that cooks the pizza in less than 70 seconds (has to be at least 1000 degrees) to the waiter that sprints the pizza to your table, Bacar is a must for true pizza lovers. Only two 8-inch pizza choices are given to diners, but the freshness of the tomato sauce with the crispness of the outer crust made it unbelievable. I have been back twice in the last two weeks with other friends and they cannot believe all the bragging I did about this place holds true. Pizzas are 1550 yen a piece at dinner, but only 1200 yen at lunch (M-F) with a drink and appetizer included.
