“nice place”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

It's a beautiful place to go. It has museum and, of course, shop. Nice garden. Just came out from the monorail, there's a ramen shop. Try if you have time. They do very delicious ramen and Gyoza.

“History preservation”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

Incredible experience to visit this traditional castle, even more considering the fact it has been built back from scratch looking at pictures and old drawings, the small video at the end of the visit (depsite being in Japanese only) is well worth being watched and show the dedication of Japanses to preserve the treasure of their past.

“Stirring”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

On some weekends there is live traditional music and dance perf ormances (free) at the Shurijo site - check before going and try to see one, it's great.

Take your time with Shurijo and even do the Stamp rally so you don't miss any important sites. Give yourself at least 3 hours so you aren't rushed and can read about the history while there.

“Fascinating history”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

A beautiful step back in time to learn about the early history of Okinawa. The grounds were destroyed during WWII, but they have done a credible job of reconstructing the castle as it originally was. The surrounding park offers a lovely walk. If you are on the island, this would be a must see.

“Interesting despite the modesty of it”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

Worth visiting, but not much to see in comparison with fabulous Kyoto and Nara. Lovely views. Very few explanations in english. In rénovation when visited.
