“Good room, great food”
Reviewed June 9, 2014

We stayed here for 3 days in April for our son's wedding. Wonderful staff and excellent buffet meals. Room was Western style facing the Mountain. Reasonable size and clean. No internet in rooms but available at reception.

My family and I visited Suginoi on a Friday, which is quite crowded. However, they were super efficient in checking us in, despite there being a large tour group in front of us. Since I drove, I had to park the car up the hill and take a shuttle bus down.

The men's onsen was not crowded (about 15 men in the pools) but my wife said the women's outdoor onsen was very crowded, with many children with their mothers. She went to the basement onsen and it was a lot quieter. The men's onsen had 4 big pools, 3 individual tubs and a small 'cave' like pool with oranges floating on the water.

The Seeds restaurant had sushi, sashimi, snow crabs, steak, salad, and many more items, all you can eat. However, desert was so - so.

We tried bowling and they had a deal whereby you pay 800 yen to play from 8pm to 12 am.

The room was large and we had one which faces the city and ocean. Room was clean and they had the futon put out while we were taking a walk to explore the place.

Overall it was a great stay and experience.

This hotel has it all. A variety of hot springs for the adults, a water park for kids in the summer, a bowling alley, a video arcade, a supermarket, and tons of cages and restaurants.
We never once had to leave the hotel.

We will definitely go back with our kids. It was easy and the kids had entertainment.

Rooms were standard, big for Japanese standards. Buffet was pretty good quality.

Room Tip: We plan on booking the new remodeled rooms next time. They were remodeling the grace rooms and all t...

Last year, we stayed here five times. Last week, we came back for the first time this year. The stay was perfect as usual with a reasonable budget. The hot spa and the meals were both wonderful. You have to be careful in selecting the right food for you, because there are too many varieties to eat for dinner and breakfast. After experiencing the restaurants here more than 10 times, we know what to eat. One of my European friends describes this place to be the 5-star hotel with the 3-star budget. We used to visit many different hot spas in Japan, but recently we tend to come back to this hotel to be satisfied perfectly, because we only care about the qualities of hot spa and food. Yes, there are some people who complain that they have to walk a lot in the big space. Then they should choose the small place.

Our family stayed in the hotel for one night in May 2014. We took the hotel shuttle at Beppu Station. It took about 10-15 minutes from the station to the hotel. It was a very large hotel.

Most people go to this hotel for the famous outdoor hot spring. There is also a swimming pool called Aqua Garden. The breakfast and the service was good.

I'm stay with my family at Beppu suginoi hotel from 9th-10th May 2014. We stayed in the Western room style. The room was quite small and almost no space to keep our bag. It has standard facility eg; hair dryer, television, thermos. Our room is in the main wing building but the restaurant and onsen is located in another building so it takes around 5-8 minute to get to both place. But food is great, I ate variety of food: Japanese, Italian, Europe especially Foie gras. Onsen at this hotel is the best onsen i've ever seen. It located at 3rd floor and outdoor type that you can see Beppu city view at night from that. Star, city view, nice weather combine and made me and my family felt a happiness experience. Lastly, I recommended this hotel for traveller who travel with family and no limit in expense. I'm sure you will have a great experience here.

This is a hotel that made for family vacation in Beppu. I stayed in the Hermitage Floor in western style. The room was very spacious with minimalist modern interior design. This type of room including a half open air bathroom made in wood but it's was not a hot spring. Hermitage floor was located in the main wing building. There were two hotel tower and one entertainment complex of the Suginoi Hotel. When you stay in this hotel usually your booking have to include the breakfast and dinner in a buffet style.
The plan for the Hermitage floor also include the Hot spring and the Aqua Garden (This is a water park inside the Hotel). They got two Hot spring inside the Hotel. One was located at the roof of the hotel, this is amazing, you can enjoy the Hot spring in the open air with the onzen design like a terraces. Also that you can enjoy the view of the Beppu bay. The other Hot spring was located at the basement in traditional Japanese style. If you was travel with kids, suggest you better spare half day or one day to playing around in the hotel.
If you drive, you can make a request for the reservation for your parking. The entrance road of this hotel might not easy to find, because the hotel was located at top of the hillside. You need to follow you GPS driving along the 朝県道52号線 going up to the hill direction. Then, when you see a blue gasoline station, you almost arrive the lane going up to the hotel.
