We were told that to appreciate Huis Ten Bosch, we must stay there. I did not realize that Okura was not exactly inside but right by the park. Close enough, but not inside. It was an impressive looking castle from the outside. Staff was very friendly, and the hotel seemed highs class. Our room was a twin room with two full size beds, perfect for me, my husband and our 8 years old. There was in room WIFI. There was a big window with the view of the park. Hotel also had an onsen.
The package we got included two breakfasts, two regular admission tickets to the park. We had to pay for our son's breakfast and ticket. There isn't really any place to get food besides the park and hotels. The buffet breakfast was only average compared with Dormy Inn Hakata where we just came from.
Huis Ten Bosch was not an amusement park. It was a park. Though Okura was a very nice hotel and our room was fine, we felt the budget would have been better spent at a nice onsen ryokan in Yufuin.
As the JR Huis Ten Bosch station is near by, we went to Sasebo for dinner. Right outside Sasebo JR, there is a Toyoko Inn. It would have better to stay there and just visit the park for the day, if one must visit the park at all.
