We were surprised when we saw the hotel. It is located in the middle of the shopping street. When you walked to the other end of the shopping arcade, you actually arrive at the kumamoto castle. So many things to eat and shop at the shopping arcade. Just across the traffic light is the bus terminal, which you can take the coaches to Mt Aso or beppu or other places. So convenient! When we were there, there was a christmas market right across the traffic light so more food to eat. There is the ichiran ramen about 10 minutes walk Away. The location is so convenient that you can get everything nearby.

Room is small but cosy. One of the best hotels we stayed in during our week long trip. Check in and check out is very easy and fuss free. Highly recommended!

Room tip: Take fhe higher floor

Near new hotel in very central location. Restaurants and shops are literally at the door step being located in an arcade.
Walking distance to Kumamoto Castle. Wifi speed was good and reliable. The room however is very small. With two people staying in the room you did have to manoeuvre around each other to move around the room. We rented a car so had to park a few blocks away. The car park recommended by the hotel cost ¥1000 over night. A mobile phone was also supplied that could be used around town.

Because it's right at the shopping district, the GPS of my car could not locate this hotel easily. There is no parking in the building, thus I have to risk and park my car illegally a block away in order to unload my suitcases. In that sense, it's inconvenient. And the parking garage suggested by the hotel is a couple blocks away. Again, I ended up parking in a wrong garage because of the confusion of the location, it can be quite confusing. The size of the room is typically small.
The location is right in the shopping district; it's in walking distance to the Castle. There are plenty of restaurants around. Shops and restaurants open till late. The subway station is close by. The ramen shop in the corner of the street is pretty good, it's a local and non-smoking restaurant.

This hotel is located in the biggest arcade shopping mall in the city.
You can enjoy all the entertainments in this city, Izakaya, restaurants, shopping, and so on. Quite convenient.
Hotel's quality is quite good level compared with price.
For tourists from abroad, it will be helpful to use Free smart phone service " Handy ". It provides free internet service, domestic phone call, useful guide for your exploring the city.

Flying from a tropical country into Japan's winter cold, it certainly helps that Richmond Hotel is conveniently located near the tram station & a whole host of malls. At least I know getting warmed up is always just a few steps away. That said, the hotel’s heating system is actually pretty good. As you walk into the lobby, the heat engulfs you so much so that you feel compelled to flash a grateful smile to the first person you see. We were given a corner room on the highest floor and it was sparkling clean. The housekeeping team was lovely and timely throughout our stay.
