Can't say enough good things about this awesome museum. First off the location is very pleasant being nestled atop a high Mouton with views of Sakurajima and the surrounding area. Second this museum's vast holdings of modern art will blow you away. There are many original bronze statues in the museum courtyard by famous masters including a signed Rodin bronze statue right in front of the museum door which you can touch and examine point blank. Thats just the beginning. The first floor holds works by Picasso, Van Gogh, Chagall and many others. There is even a letter from a Paris Museum curator praising the museum's vast holdings of French bronze sculpture. The basement features Japanese Satsuma which is just as awesome.
We were the only ones there! No competing in lines or views of the exhibits. It was even better than being in the Louvre or some other major museum.
We took a taxi from the Dormy Inn to get to the museum. It took about 10 minutes. We had the front desk call the taxi to pick us up and take us home at the end.
