A business hotel- best for salarymen to stumble back after entertaining. It's located in the food and bar area in tenmonkan (shopping on the other side of the main road) and can feel a bit seedy for the loan female traveller so i wouldnt recommend for families.

You might as well stay near Kagoshima chuo as there's heaps there as well if you intend to use the bullet train.

Room was small but clean (love the febreeze), and can pick up female amenities at reception.

They can store your luggage too.

This is the Japanese business/convention hotel at its best, and it works very well for singles and couples as well. The rooms are big, clean and fresh and well presented. The beds are very good, The bathrooms are larger and better equipped than the usual Japanese business hotel. The towels and amenities are generous. The breakfast - Japanese and Western - is very good indeed and surprisingly inexpensive. The staff are efficient. The location is excellent as long as you are happy to be in the middle of the bar/nightclub district. Restaurants are all around the block. It is walking/tram distance from everywhere you might want to see. It is reminiscent of the park Inn chain, only the rooms are bigger. Many rooms have views of the volcano. Really, this is an excellent hotel and you could not be disappointed if you choose to stay here.

it might look a bit further away from the airport bus stop than some of the hotels on main Tenmonkan dori on google map but it is just about 1 minute more walk. The location is easy to find, just cross the main street at the traffic light after you get off the airport bus, straight ahead, turn right on the second alley (there is a BBQ restaurant at the corner, you can't miss it), then straight ahead for about 50m, and it is on the left.

Staff are friendly, check in-and-out was quick. Room is at decent size for Japan standard and very clean and well maintained.
Breakfast is a bargain, food was good and plenty of choices, Just purchase at the reception one day in advance and you get 50% off for JPY540 per person (original price JPY1080).

I will stay there again next time.

On a separate note, if anyone is interested to go to Hirikawa Zoo, the bus stop (No. 4) is on Tenmonkan dori opposite to the airport bus stop. It is about 50mins local bus (No. 2) ride for JPY440 one way (JPY220 for children). Zoo admission fee is JPY500 for adult and JPY100 for children.
