The hotel is in a great location as it is an easy walk to Dolphin Port and the ferry to Sakurajima. Tram 2 takes you to Kagoshima Chuo station, which is where the Shinkansen line terminates. If you want to have breakfast at the hotel you need to buy a token from front desk for ¥1000 (500 for children). The hotel has a coin operated laundry on the 6th floor and you can borrow a larger airer from front desk to dry clothes in your room. If you fancy a change from Japanese food, there is a tiny pizza restaurant about 5 minutes away, serving great home made pizza. Out of the hotel turn left until you reach the major junction. Follow the tramline round to the right and on the corner on the right look out for two large gnomes by the door. The restaurant is downstairs behind a pink door. We bought cute travel passes for our stay in Kagoshima but didn't get value from them. Also, watch out - the bus timetable we were given with our passes was totally wrong. Use the timetable on the bus stops and note that some bus stops have changed number too, which can be confusing.
