This "minshuku" is like a Japanese ryokan without all the conventional fussing!
It's located extremely close to ALL the tourist attraction in Ibusuki, but not that close to any stores so be sure to have some snacks with you if you like to eat between meals.
Their beautifully set natural onsen is dug up on site and instead of separating the men from the women (as is usual) they let each couple have their own private bath, a real treat.
The kaiseki dinner was delicious and they seasoned the food with salt made from their own onsen water. You can also but their salt, such a useful and affordable souvenir!
The well traveled host & hostess are charming and outgoing, a real pleasure to stay with. At first they were shy about speaking English but as they warmed up we realized they (especially the man) were quite fluent. By the end of our two night stay they were taking down our skype accounts and talking about coming to visit us in Canada!
Oh, and did I mention it's a DOG FRIENDLY hotel with a DOGGIE ONSEN!? Just make sure to book a dog friendly room, Western beds, not tatami- it's all clear on their website.
Enjoy your stay and tell them Jade, Ryan and Django from Canada say hello!
