This shrine is affectionately known as 'Okushida-san' and there are always many visitors. The precinct is not so large and in it you can see a lot of historical and traditional Japanese, especially in Hakata, buildings and sites. Among them, you may become interested in the fountain (well) of long life. The water is somewhat salty but worth trying!

Don't miss this and the Flea Market! Known for it's unusual floats, there are several aspects of this Shrine that make it a place of lovely energy and good will. Lots of smiling visitors and unusual areas to visit. Safe and fun. Go to the market after. It's on the corner of the market.

The shrine is a stones throw from Canal City so a visit to both can easily be combined. The Gion festival floats and shrines are cool to see.

This was one of the highlights of my Fukuoka trip and an excellent place for tourists to take photographs of a traditional shinto shrine. It is centrally located by Canal City, Hakata Traditional Craft and Design Museum, and Kawabata Shopping Arcade, so there is plenty to see and do in that area. This is a must-see for visitors of Fukuoka. If you can only make time to see one shrine in Fukuoka during your stay, go to this one.

A very nice place that offers a "bit" of everything. Back exit into the narrow streets and arcade malls that run along the canal.
