“Great, only missing a gym”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

Stayed here 2 nights in August 2013. The service is great and it is close to many shops. The restaurants here are very good and not that unreasonably priced. The buffet for lunch is great.

The hollow circular architecture is quite amazing and the staff are ultra friendly.

The only thing missing was the lack of an exercise gym, which may not be common in Japanese hotels.

See the November review on hot rooms. Well, we are experiencing the opposite with a very cold room.
This is another centrally heated hotel without thermostats for heat control. It's about 20-21C. The staff did bring another blanket for us.

Other aspects: bathroom has razors, toothbrushes and kids' amenities if you let them know you have a kid with you. Room even has a cute Teddy bear slippers. Bed has exactly 1 bed per mattress. No free Wi-Fi. Water heater with tea and like most Japanese hotels - no coffee unless you pay for it. HD TV with Japanese cable.

1000Yen and 20minutes in traffic from Hakata station via the premium taxi from the B1 parking of the mall / station. You can also walk in 10min, but it was cold, rainy and we had luggage and a sick toddler.

Neighboring crying baby and sirens can easily be heard at 3 in the morning, and I'm a heavy sleeper.

I might stay again if just by myself, especially at the $120 per night with 2 breakfast price, but not with a family.

And for some mysterious reason, the check-in clerk refused to add my Hyatt Gold Passport number since we were at a special cheaper room rate. This simply confirms (IMO) the as while Japanese has great polite service, hotels here can really be inflexible and beauracratic. (see my Okinawa resort review).

The double room has wide size bed and softer set available for persons discussion. I selected Including the bar longe fee, served two alcohol drinks each and snacks. It is cheaper than separately. Hotel Rocation is abuou 1500yen by taxi from Fukuoka airport.

Room Tip: Bar and stay package is good.

For a Fukuoka hotel, I can say that Hyatt Regency is an upper average choice. The location is close to Hakata station one of the major train stops of the city. The hotel is clean and the staff are kind and helpful. The breakfast was upper mediocre variety and taste. The beds are comfy while the room is larger than Japanese standard but smaller than western equivalents. Overall, it is a good choice if the location fits your needs. There are nice hotels around Akasaka area.

Small efficient rooms, somewhat clean but you do not control the climate. The windows require a key to open and the air conditioning is not on even when the air temperature is over 70 F. The room was over 80 degrees and after 9 people with various degrees of management stopped by to say sorry, it was determined that it will soon be winter so there is heat. This is one of the most uncomfortable hotels I have been in. It is a Hyatt Regency for locals who are accustomed to high temperatures. If you are not fond of being toasted- DO NOT STAY HERE in Fall or Spring.

Even the Regency Lounge is kept at over 80 degrees. This is by far one of the most uncomfortable hotels I have stayed at and the staff does not really understand English so do not believe the website where the say the rooms are climate controlled and do not expect that things can be corrected.

They boast their efforts to save energy- I doubt that not wasting energy on heat is saving any money. For a business trip I expect that I should be able to use the hair dryer without perspiring- no such luck.

Pretty lobby- so stop by to take a photo, but do not stay here.

This hotel was functional for a quick overnight visit. However we would not have wanted to have stayed any longer than that. The rooms and fittings are 3-star and very tired. Location is acceptable but all the activity is a 15-20 minute walk away, on the opposite side of Hakata Station.

This hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Hakata Station. The room was good sized for Japan. Unlike others, we had no issues with the air conditioner during a hot August in Japan.

There are plenty of restaurants and shops near the Hakata Station.

It was a 1350 yen taxi ride to the airport in very light early morning traffic.

There is a very good bakery in the hotel courtyard. It is not cheap, but very good.
