“Enjoyable day with the deer”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

The park itself is vast and there are many deers which are free to roam.

The deers look to visitor for food. Be sure to get the deer biscuit from the street vendors to feed them. Otherwise, they will not feel shy to check your coat pocket for snacks.

The children had an enjoyable time at the park. Some of the deers will even bow to you. Remember to reward them with the deer biscuit!

“Beware of deers!”
Reviewed January 11, 2014

Nice place, green and relaxing. Long walks, few temples and a lot of deers. If you will try to feed them (special food sold at park only, please!) wait until no deers are around vendor, or you will be literary attacked (softly but forceful) by deers after you move 2-3 meters from vendor so hide cookies into a bag staying near. Surprisingly deers are trained well and do not disturb vendor him(her)self.
Also i recommend hot sweet potato's sold onsite especially if you visit during cold weather (beware of deers!).

“A very nice and relaxing walk; not forgetting having deer for company”
Reviewed January 5, 2014 via mobile

I visited Nara on my recent japan trip and it was a day well spent. My family and I got to walk side by side the deer, feed them as well enjoy the beautiful scenery of the park. Strongly recommend for an escape from the urban lifestyle

“Deer everywhere”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

Nara Park in Japan is a Buddhist temple. As you walk towards the actual temple, there are deer all over, very tame and gentle, you can go over and touch them (they are expecting food). If you don't have food, just show them your open hand. However if you do have food (park sells deer cookies) be prepared to have 20 or more come running to you to get food. Watching this is a bit scary, one women got nipped when a deer was trying to get a piece of cookie from her. Most people ended up throwing cookies in the other direction just to get them away. It was amazing being able to walk among deer and touch them.
