“Great collection of antique statues and wooden pagodas”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

Another UNESCO World Heritage site within Nara Park which features a great collection of treas statues and the landmark pagoda... Our visit coincided to the time where extensive repairs were done... Deer scattered occasionally on the grounds...

“Must see - just right next to subway”
Reviewed May 24, 2012

Just 50 M from the subway. Must see as it is so convenience and easy access. Beautiful pagoda and temple. If you like a bit more on the history, visit the Tresure Hall. There is also deer at the entrance - good venue for picture taking for both deer and pogada.

“Don't Miss The Treasure Hall”
Reviewed May 17, 2012

The pagoda was not that impressive to me, but the treasure hall was incredible. Don't go there expecting gold and jewels because you won't find any. What you will find is an incredible treasure of ancient statues some of them giant. There are a couple of giant wooden Buddhas and a giant thousand armed Buddha, although I don't think it really has that many arms. There are also statues of the guardians of Buddhism, the most famous being the statue of Ashura.

No photos are allowed in the treasure hall.

This temple was worth visiting if only to see the treasure hall.

“Must see”
Reviewed February 6, 2012

All of the temples, pagodas, etc. in Nara Park cannot be missed. You can easily spend all day at this park and still not see all of it. From deer feeding to views overlooking the whole of Nara, it is breathtaking.
