We had been almost entirely on futons for our trip, and the bunk beds were a delightful novelty. The room was compact but well planned, and the ensuite was lovely. The stairs were quite narrow, so I didn't complain when the very kind owners offered to carry my cases up and down them. The people are delightful, and both train stations are in easy walking distance. We need to go back again so I can use their hire bikes. The complimentary sake and soup were a nice touch (and delicious).

Guest House Nara Komachi is conveniently next to the station and is within 20 minutes walking of Nara Park. The owners are really lovely and welcoming people; at check-in they included information about the Nara area and explained the amenities of the guest house. In the lobby there are computers (although there is wifi in the room so internet is easily accessible anywhere!), a kitchen with everything you need, umbrellas you can use when you go out, and free coffee and tea. The rooms are spotlessly clean (you take your shoes off at the entrance of the guest house so the floors are very clean!). After a long day of sightseeing, it was wonderful to come back to such a nice place!

Located handily to Nara Station and the shops but well off the main road. Its extremely well organised and run by the host Kazu. There are bikes for hire cheaply, a place to cook, internet, gaming. The rooms are smallish but not unusual for Japan, clean modern and essentially comfortable. The service is outstanding with the staff ever eager to help and really go the extra mile.

We stayed 2 nights in a bunkbed room as a family. It's not big, but spotlessly clean and has the basics: beds, table, chairs, toilet and shower. Plenty of hot water, and really nice (Shisheido) soap etc. The wi-fi in the room is also good. There is no kettle or fridge in the room, but quests can use the facilities in the lobby for free. The staff knows English and are very friendly. There is also a coin laundry just up the road.

The quest house is close to the JR station (note: further from the other station), and not in the city center or on the park side of town. However, it's a small town and by bike (which you can rent at the quest house) everything is close.

Very nice, neat and clean hotel to stay. very close to JR station. The staff were English speaking and so friendly and helpful. They have bikes for rent but you should book one night before. we stayed for 3nights and enjoyed a lot. :)
