I arrived in Nikko at 8pm. Having checked in to my hotel I was looking for somewhere to eat at about 8.30pm. Most places were closed or at least empty. Maruhide had a few people in and the staff were very welcoming.
The food was good - I was surprised how nice the yuba was (especially the ramen in tomato sauce and the deep-fried yuba burger). My friend had pork which was also good. The menu was in English and the waitress helped us with anything we weren't sure of. As well as local dishes they serve pizza (which I didn't try).
There was a good selection of drinks including sake served in a large glass on a traditional wooden drip tray.
I would definitely go there again.
