“Great location with reasonable price”
Reviewed December 17, 2011

Got a double room at mid-December and everything was find til I returned to my room during evening and even though the air-conditioning was turned on for several hours, the room was freezing cold. The heating is terrible! Had to sleep with my coat on.
At least there was an electric sheet which made sleep tolerable.
Close to the train and bus stations but again, heating in rooms is crucial during the winter.

We stayed 2 nights in Nikko Park Lodge Tobu location and were very happy with our stay. The hotel opened its doors this year. Do not come here if you need luxuary, but if you are looking for a very friendly and comfortabel and quiet hotel in an excellent location, then come up to here. The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the Tobu station, so very practical for taking train and bus. We had a very big room, more an appartment with kitchenette with a big fridge, waterboiler and a good equipped bathroom. Everything was there, towels, showergel, shampoo, conditioner, hairdryer...Fom our room we had a nice view at the illuminated station. At the reception you can drink good coffee, for free. 5 minutes walk and you arrive at a very big supermarket. So what do you need more? We should stay there again. And Nikko is a wonderfull place. Do not forget to bring a visit at the National park of Nikko.

We stayed one night Nov 2010. We had booked the room via the sister accommodation Nikko Park Lodge website, reserving the room with credit card details. All easily done. However on the day we arrived, we had to pay cash as the cafe ladies did not take credit card at their till. We had choice of rooms and took the top floor option overlooking the main square. One thing to note, it is considerably colder in Nikko than Tokyo at this time of the year. Be warned. The room fortunately had a good airconditioner / heater, but it was too noisy to have on overnight, so when we turned it off to go to bed, we needed an extra duvet. Kitchen was handy, but as noted elsewhere, there are no utensils, pots, knives and the like. Room clean and comfortable, bathroom small like most japanese bathrooms. Note this is for Nikko Park Lodge Tobu Station, not the main Nikko Park Lodge site which is 30mins walk from the rail stations. Ladies in cafe below had some English and we stored our bags before checking in. Check in at 3pm. Good for a short stay. Good value. We visited the World Heritage Temple and shrine site. Note that at the moment, you cannot physically see some of the buildings form the outside due to enormous scaffolding complexes covering the original buildings due to renovations. They have however, cunningly placed a huge photo on the outside of the scaffolding so you can see what it is supposed to look like. We encountered this at a couple of places on our trip, and while it is disappointing not to see the building as a whole, we are very aware that preservation is important, and appreciated the lengths to which the authorities have gone to to provide as much of an experience that they can to their visitors.
