We stayed for a night on a weekday in mid March. The hotel provides big bath with several kinds of tub, spa, restaurant and a in house swimming pool for a common facility and a compact private rooms with all the basic facility. there is no outstanding decoration or facility but does offer quite a high performance for the price they charge. i recommend for those looking for the actual service rather than prestigious brand.

Loving the spacious rooms and the amazing Onsen. This hotel is mainly set up for Japanese clients but that is why it is a great experience! Friendly staff, great rooms and super facilities a must visit!! Central to Nikko for visiting shrines and national park but need a car as 20 minutes to central Nikko.

We stayed at this nice hotel for 2 nights and here are + and -.
+ As always the staff is wonderful and friendly even though there are a few speaks english and only basic.
+ Spa with several hot pools, sauna etc is GREAT
+ Huge rooms
- Is the location. Considering that if you would stay in Nikko you can walk to many places of interest and it is a charming town. This hotell is in the midd of nowhere. If you have a car is great and you can take train to Nikko with one change. Bus is 40 minutes and taxi 25 minutes (5500-6000Y).
- Only buffé for dinner for 5 500 and no ala carte was offered this 2 evenings.
- VERY hard beds
+ and - is breakfast buffé though it is better than some small hotell but not much of a selection for a Swede who are used to unbelievable many sorts of stuff (not suchi etc.)

Very good because i

Room tip: super hard bed, GREAT Spa, Get room with View

We had a wonderful stay at the Harvest. The hotel is very clean and well-maintained. The room we had was spacious and well-equipped, and had a nice view facing the river. The onsen facilities were equally clean and maintained and the variety of baths was appreciated. The staff was friendly and helpful. We did not have dinner, but did have the buffet breakfast, which offered a fairly broad selection. The hotel is on the edge of Kinugawa, so the main viewpoints are not within walking distance. Also, there is a limited selection of restaurants within walking distance, although the ramen shop across the street was excellent.

Room tip: Ask for a room on the river side.

Okay so I am giving it 5 stars for a few reasons even though I wouldn't go again personally. It was very pretty, and it gave a good Japanese cultural feel. I think it was cool to experience for a night (I stayed 2), but we spent so much time exploring Kyoto my husband and I really only used it to sleep. We are on our honeymoon and trying to make the most of our trip with sight seeing. The staff was very friendly and able to communicate pretty well considering the language barrier. It did have a nice onsen available, but we were too tired to use it at the end of the day. We opted not to buy the dinner or breakfast because they were fairly expensive and we don't mind walking to find food elsewhere. If you are looking to experience traditional Japan, I say give it a shot. If you are trying to stay on budget then you might want to pass for somewhere with better prices.
