“Popping Poppies”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2013

Kurihama Flower Land is well known for their Cosmos in Fall (see my review) and Poppies in Spring. I was fortunate again to visit in mid May. The entire park was ablaze with poppies creating a pink ocean of color. There are many differenct colors and varieties to be seen, but the dominant color was pink. As you exit the Keikyu Kurihama train station, walk straight out and go down several blocks and make a right. Continue walking and it will take you right to the park entrance. It is a very easy and doable 15-20 minute walk from the station. The entrance to the park is free. Spend a leisurely half day, bring a packed lunch if you like (there is a restaurant near the entrance), and have a refreshing lavendar twist cone.

“Love it.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

Great park. You can either walk from Kurihama Station (15 minute) or park (¥600) on site. You walk through a gorgeous field of flowers either cosmos or poppies depending on the time of the year to go up to the playground area and/or the herb garden. It's a lovely walk, but their is a train to take you up for a few hundred yen. The playground is amazing. It has a huge roller slide, all sorts of climbing stuff, and a Godzilla slide. On weekends their is a concession stand with drinks, light food and expensive beer.

“Cosmic Cosmos!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2012

In fall, the Kurihama Flower Land is festooned with acres of cosmos. The park is free and is about a 20 minute walk from the Kurihama train station. The park also contains a giant Godzilla slide and various play equipment for children. It also has an herb garden and a foot bath. To get to the upper portion of the park, you may walk or take a cute little "train" for 200 yen. It's a great place to leisurely spend you day walking alone or with company. There are various sitting areas and benches so bring a bento boxed lunch and enjoy the scenery.
