A big, well-maintained zoo with many different types of animals. The pathways are wide, much of which are not shaded. There are several spots throughout the compound to take shelter in, but only 1 was enclosed with A/C. There are also (if I remember correctly): 2 gift shops, 1 restaurant, a cafe, drink vending machines, a truck that serves only drinks, a playground, and an under construction petting zoo. With the exception of a black bear that kept pacing in circles, the animals are in good shape. The enclosures where they stay at are clean and seem to be proportionate for the size and/or number of those residing.

We went here on a weekday. There wasn't much people around, mainly families with children and us being the only foreigners. Several animals were either sleeping or hidden from view, which was disappointing but understandable due to the hot weather and serene and quiet atmosphere. We got to witness one of the zoo's employees feed some monkeys; unfortunately, she was talking in Japanese while feeding them so we couldn't understand her. All in all, though, the 600 yen admission fee was worth the several-hours visit.

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon strolling through this zoo. Quite walk-able with a good display of many animals. Being American, I still had to adjust to the school children just dropping their backpacks in a pile and wandering throughout the zoo on their own. It's wonderfully safe and comfortable.

Our family visited zoorasia during golden week holidays, i thought it would be over crowded, but since it is located in a big territory the crowd was not a problem. My son enjoyed very much, we loved Arctic animals, especially snowy owl.
Food was not good, so you better bring some snack and sandwiches with you!!!

The day was very cold when we went to Zoorasia, in fact they had forecast snow! But that did not stop us. We had a little adventure to get there as we first caught the train from Yokohama to Tsurugamine station on the Sotetsu line and then needed to transfer to a bus for the zoo. Unfortunately we did not follow the signs to the bus terminal correctly and ended up on a little walking tour! Anyhow we found the terminal and then with a little friendly talk to the bus drivers found the correct bus to take. The bus trip was about 20 minutes or so and cost 210yen. Cost for the zoo was 600yen for adult and 300yen for our 14 year old daughter. When we first walked into the zoo we were advised that they were feeding the elephants which is just near the entrance so we were able to watch this first up. The day was definitely cold with the water on the ground being frozen, but the elephants were getting hosed with warm water and loving it! The zoo is quite big and has different sections so make sure you visit each section so as not to miss out on anything. We enjoyed seeing the big cats..... lion, tiger and leopard in the Asian Tropical Forest. The Subarctic Forest had penguins, seals and as well as otters red pandas and artic birds, but the most interesting was the Polar bear that was having a wonderful time in the cold weather swimming and playing. The underwater observatory allowed us to watch him swimming under the water which was very entertaining. The Japanese Countryside section had interesting animals such as Tsushima Leopard Cat, Japanese Badger/Raccoon Dog, Japanese red fox and Japanese Black bear. The other sections included the Oceanian Grassland, Central Asian Highland, Amazon Jungle and African Tropical Rainforest, which is quite new and only opened up about a year ago. There is also some further building happening so they are expanding this area even further. We had lunch at the Aussie Hill restaurant overlooking the kangaroos. On our return we found that we could catch the bus directly back to Yokohama station so opted to get back this way as we did not then need to transfer. It was such a wonderful day
