“Good mix of shops and restaurants”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

This is a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city. Located in an open area the warehouse looks immaculately preserved. Stop in for the multi-level shops on the second and third floor or hit one of the nice restaurants on the first floor

“pleasant level, easy walk all the way from chinatown here”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

just opposite to yokohama international passenger terminal, there is street artist doing some show just infront of the building. inside the building was quite crowded when we were there. most of shops are pricy, a hat is 10000 above, of cause good workmanship and quality material used as i can see. some local artist, hand made products, my daughter is impressed with one shop which hand made souveniors of lots of country national flag, which she tried her best to guess. quite enjoyful just walk through or sit down to have a sip. we spent about 1 hour here then head toward cosmoworld when the wheel was lighting up with different color tune.

“Red Brick Warehouse – a real scenic spot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2013

The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is located at a strategically beautiful location east of Shinko District, with the Port as its background. A scenic and romantic walk (at night) along Shinkobashi bridge brought us to the well-preserved little historical site. There are two buildings; bldg 2 is a 3-levels shop & dines while the other bldg 1 is an arts centre and event/function space. This protected building was built during the Meiji Era, about 100 years old years, as a model warehouse for Japan then. It was subsequently converted into an indoor market of shops and eateries with a touch of an industrial style décor around 1989.
The exterior of the building is quite interesting compared to most modern or Japanese style buildings. There are many nice shops in the longer bldg 2 where you will find Yokohama favourite souvenirs like Red shoes, nautical motif items and Kit-Kats, on top of boutique shops and ice cream stores, a great gift shopping experience. We especially like the 2 silver accessories shops. I understand that the big open space between both buildings serves as a big exhibit space/venue for outdoor festivals and concerts. At the far end is the Pier Aharenga.
We were there on a Friday night and find the atmosphere simply wonderful especially that the building was very romantically lit up, quite a testament to Yokohama famous night views. While some might consider it be an upscale flea market (a better class of shops than the usual tourist sort though) but I think it is well worth a 2~3 hour of visit. Do make a trip there especially if you are anywhere near to MM21.
